Developers Need Support, Too: A Survey of Security Advice for Software Developers [PDF]

open access: yes2017 IEEE Cybersecurity Development (SecDev), 2017
Increasingly developers are becoming aware of the importance of software security, as frequent high-profile security incidents emphasize the need for secure code. Faced with this new problem, most developers will use their normal approach: web search. But are the resulting web resources useful and effective at promoting security in practice?

Serum Myonectin Levels Are Positively Associated With Physical Function and Lower Frailty‐Related Limitation in Maintenance Hemodialysis Patients: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients frequently suffer from frailty, characterized by reduced physical function and poor prognosis. Myokines, such as myonectin, secreted by muscle, are emerging regulators of systemic health. This study investigated the relationship between serum myonectin, adipokines (adiponectin, omentin), and ...

Association Between Individualized Education for Kidney Replacement Therapy Modality Selection and Peritoneal Dialysis Initiation: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is an established home‐based kidney replacement therapy (KRT), but its uptake remains low in Japan. We evaluated whether individualized education in a dedicated outpatient clinic was associated with the initiation of PD.

Software multiplexing: share your libraries and statically link them too [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the ACM on Programming Languages, 2018
We describe a compiler strategy we call “ Software Multiplexing ” that achieves many benefits of both statically linked and dynamically linked libraries, and adds some additional advantages. Specifically, it achieves the code size benefits of dynamically linked libraries while eliminating the major disadvantages ...

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Application of Agile methodologies for software development

open access: yesВісник Харківського національного університету імені В.Н. Каразіна. Серія: Математичне моделювання, інформаційні технології, автоматизовані системи управління, 2019
In this work explored evolution of software lifecycle models firstly to lightweight and then to agile software development methodologies, and factors that have led to a search for ways to improve approaches to software development.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.
