Litter decomposition in mountainous forest ecosystems is an essential process that affects carbon and nutrient cycling. However, the contribution of litter decomposition to terrestrial ecosystems is difficult to estimate accurately because of the limited comparability of different studies and limited data on local microclimatic and non‐climatic factors.

Autophagy is a cellular degradation process involved in, for example, immune responses to pathogens and neurodegeneration. To identify modulators of autophagy, we developed a microscopy‐based screening assay and identified previously unknown autophagy‐modulating activities in known drugs and natural products from myxobacteria and fungi.

Soil acidification monitoring in the Netherlands
The last decades of the 20th century are characterized by a vast increase in activities developed and measures taken by the authorities to accommodate the fear of environmental problems that boomed since the late 1960s. The growing environmental awareness and the subsequent incorporation of environmental values and arguments in the social discourse and

ABSTRACT In the Recôncavo Basin, Northeast of Brazil, mud diapirs have been reported for decades, but their role within the basin's petroleum system remains poorly constrained. Here, we combine 2D seismic interpretation, field observations, and organic geochemical analyses of rocks and oil seeps to investigate the relationship between diapirism and ...

The Effects of Canning on the In Vitro Solubility of Phosphorus in Pet Food
ABSTRACT Excess phosphate (P) intake through inorganic P (Pi) addition is known to cause various adverse health effects while declaration of use and amount in pet food in the EU is not regulated. Distinction between organic phosphate (oP) from feed ingredients and Pi with standard laboratory methods is impossible.
