Subsoil tillage and straw mulching are synergistic for long-term improvement of soil carbon and structural characteristics

open access: yesInternational Soil and Water Conservation Research
Subsoil tillage (S) improves the stability and quality of soil organic carbon (SOC) and soil structure. Combining straw mulching with subsoil tillage (SS) may further improve soil physical and biogeochemical properties, whilst enabling abundant straw ...

Lunar‐Based Photothermal CO2 Reduction Strategy: Self‐Evolving Transient Active Interface and Band Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A self‐evolving Pd/Ov‐FeTiO3 photothermal catalyst, inspired by lunar soil, enables efficient extraterrestrial CO2 conversion. The formation of transient active interfaces and oxygen vacancies extends light absorption to the infrared range and optimizes electron transfer.

Soil aggregate stability and aggregate-associated carbon and nitrogen in natural restoration grassland and Chinese red pine plantation on the Loess Plateau

open access: yes, 2017
Artificial afforestation and natural recovery from abandoned cropland are two typical recovery types on the Loess Plateau, China. However, few studies have investigated the difference of natural secondary vegetation restoration and man-made plantation in

A Worm‐Inspired Origami Robot with Multimodal Locomotion for Adaptive Mobility in Complex Pipeline Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An origami worm‐inspired robot achieves multimodal locomotion in confined pipelines through mechatronic integration that embeds actuation, control, and communication within each origami module. Large, reversible configuration and dimensional changes enable 25 gaits synthesized by a unified framework across peristaltic, inchworm, and wheel‐rolling modes

THE APPLICATION EFFECT OF EMPTY PALM OIL BUNCH ORGANIC FERTILIZER RESIDUE AND NPK FERTILIZER IN CORN PLANTING ON SANDY SOIL

open access: yesJurnal Agrotek Tropika
Conditions on sandy soil aggregate stability are generally classified as weak. This is because the sandy soil itself has a low organic matter content so that only a few plants can grow on the soil.

Bionic Solar‐Powered Heavy Metal Trap for Eco‐Friendly Sludge Drying and Simultaneous Electricity Generation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Herein, we propose a solar‐powered heavy metal trap (SPHT) for sludge disposal. The indoor experiments demonstrated that the sludge water content decreased from 90 % to 31 %, coupled with a decrease in heavy metal content to 6 % at most. Furthermore, the designed SPHT generated an initial potential of 0.10 V, and monitoring this hydrovoltaic potential ...

Eco‐Geography Reverses Dominant AMR Reservoirs in Klebsiella pneumoniae: Integron‐Rich Mobilomes and Cross‐Niche Connectivity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dominant antimicrobial resistance reservoirs in Klebsiella pneumoniae vary across eco‐geographic settings rather than following a universal pattern. Integrated One Health and global genomic analyses show that lineage structure, integron load, and cross‐niche connectivity shape whether AMR burden accumulates primarily in human or nonhuman compartments ...

Transposase‐Assisted Donor Tethering Boosts Large‐Fragment HDR in Plants

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A transposase‐assisted donor tethering strategy is developed to enhance homology‐directed repair in plants. By recruiting donor DNA to double‐strand breaks and synergizing with repair pathway reprogramming and transcription‐coupled donor design, this system markedly improves large‐fragment targeted insertion efficiency, providing a robust platform for ...

Soil Carbohydrates and Glomalin-Related Soil Proteins Affect Aggregate Characteristics in Chinese Fir Plantations with Different Stand Types

open access: yes
Soil carbohydrates and glomalin-related soil proteins (GRSPs), as important components of soil organic matter, are the essential basis for maintaining soil aggregate stability. They interact with each other and influence each other.
