Aggregate stability of tropical soils in relation to their organic matter constituents and other soil properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This study was carried out to determine the distribution of organic matter and its constituents, as well asother soil properties, in various aggregate size fractions for four soil types in Malaysia, and to investigate therelationship and relative ...

Leaftronics: Bio‐Fractal Scaffolds From Leaf Venation for Low‐Waste Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
“Leaftronics” transforms naturally evolved leaf venation into quasi‐fractal scaffolds for sustainable electronics. Polymer‐infiltrated leaf skeletons can be used to fabricate ultra‐smooth, reflow‐ and thin‐film‐compatible decomposable substrates, while making the same lignocellulose networks conducting results in flexible transparent electrodes.

The Shift of Soil Bacterial Community After Afforestation Influence Soil Organic Carbon and Aggregate Stability in Karst Region

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2022
Soil microbes regulate the carbon cycle and affect the formation and stabilization of soil aggregates. However, the interactions between the soil microbial community and soil organic carbon (SOC) fractions, organic carbon (OC) content in aggregates, and ...

Higher plant diversity enhances soil stability in disturbed alpine ecosystems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Plant diversity is hypothesised to increase soil stability by increasing the diversity of root types. To test this hypothesis, we took soil cores from machine-graded ski slopes and from the adjacent undisturbed vegetation as a control.

Response of hydro-physical properties of a Chromic Luvisol in Ghana to different methods of application of Mucuna pruriens as a soil amendments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The study assessed the response of hydro-physical properties of Chromic Luvisol to different methods of application of Mucuna pruriens as a soil amendments in two separate experiments. A Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications was

Photocatalytic Water Splitting on the Lunar Surface: Prospects for In Situ Resource Utilization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Water has been found in craters on the moon nearby locations which are illuminated >80% of the time. Photocatalysis uses energy from sunlight to drive chemical reactions such as water splitting to produce oxygen and hydrogen. It is a scalable technology that requires lighter equipment and utilizes resources available on the moon. ABSTRACT The discovery

Soil Aggregate Stability: Its Evaluation and Relation to Organic Matter Constituents and Other Soil Properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
The purpose of this study were: 1) to compare the aggregate stability of individual aggregate size fractions, 2) to determine the interrelationship and efficiency of several aggregate stability indices, and 3) to determine the relationship and ...

Short-Term Dynamics of Soil Aggregate Stability in the Field [PDF]

open access: yesSoil Science Society of America Journal, 2014
Aggregate stability is a key property affecting the movement and storage of water, seedling emergence, and soil sensitivity to erosion. Many studies have shown that aggregate stability changes through time. Field monitor- ing studies performed with a relatively large (monthly) time step showed the seasonal trend of aggregate stability. However, shorter

Exploring the Potential of Zero‐Dimensional Carbon Nanomaterials in Photoluminescent, Electrochemiluminescent and Electrochemical Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Zero‐dimensional carbon nanomaterials are presented as multifunctional platforms linking structure, property, and sensing performance. Surface engineering and heteroatom doping modulate electron‐transfer and luminescent behavior, enabling electrochemical, photoluminescent, and electrochemiluminescent detection. Fundamental design principles, analytical

DOC trail: soil organic matter quality and soil aggregate stability in organic and conventional soils [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Conclusion Soil organic matter quality is affected by the agricultural systems of the DOC trial. System effects on the chemical composition, however, were smaller than those on the living organisms in soil and their functions.
