Phosphorus and cadmium availability in soil fertilized with biosolids and ashes
Chemosphere, 2016The recycling of hygienized municipal sewage sludge (biosolids) to soil as the source of phosphorus (P) is generally encouraged. The use of biosolids, however, has some concerns, such as the presence of elevated concentrations of potentially toxic trace elements, and the possible presence of pathogens, hormones and antibiotics.

Availability of Residual Phosphorus in Manured Soils
Soil Science Society of America Journal, 1996Abstract In many areas with confined animal operations, continual manure application has increased soil P above amounts sufficient for optimum crop yields. In these areas, it is of economic and environmental importance to determine how long high‐P soils will remain above crop sufficiency and identify soils where P

Autoclaving Soil Samples Affects Algal‐Available Phosphorus
Journal of Environmental Quality, 2005ABSTRACTUnwanted microbial interference in samples used for biological assays of P availability has routinely been eliminated by autoclaving samples before inoculation with algae. Twenty‐three soils were selected to evaluate the relationship between algal growth in P‐deficient solutions containing small quantities of soil and the level of P determined ...

Phosphorus availability in two calcareous soils
2011A study was made of the influence of soil moisture tension and soil temperature on the availability of phosphorus from five different compounds in two calcareous soils. In the study of moisture tension, the top six inches of Machete stony sandy loam and of Nisconlith clay loam were treated with five phosphate carriers of varying water solubility ...

Change in soil available phosphorus in relation to the phosphorus budget in China
Nutrient Cycling in Agroecosystems, 2012Limited information on soil available phosphorous (P) status has restricted rational P-management strategies, which are necessary to develop, budget, and control P fertilizer inputs. This study was conducted to quantify the relationship between the P budget (P input minus output) and soil available P content (Olsen-P) and its variation from seven long ...

Effect of available phosphorus in paddy soils on phosphorus uptake of rice
Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry Articles, 1996Relation between available phosphorus in 6 types of paddy soil in, Human Province and its uptake by rices was studied by32P tracing. The result indicated that the P uptake by rices varied with available P content in the paddy soils. When the content was high, the rice absorbed more P nutrient from the soil and decreased the P uptake from the P ...

Phosphorus (P) is both a macronutrient for plants and an effective amendment to reduce lead (Pb) toxicity in soil. Thus, in Pb-polluted soil with low P availability, P will act as a nutrient as well as a Pb-immobilizing agent. However, this has not been fully investigated.

Biochar is beneficial to soil phosphorus (P) availability and crop growth, but the effects vary greatly across different soil types. We investigated the effects of rice straw biochar (4% of total mass) and P application (0, 30, and 90 kg P·hm-2) on soil P availability, phosphomonoesterase activity, and soybean P uptake by using lateritic red soil (pH 4.

Effect of phosphorus status of the soil on selenium availability
Journal of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science, 2010AbstractDue to its importance for human and animal health, low bioavailability of selenium (Se) is of concern in large parts of the world. Among the factors determining Se availability is competition for binding sites by other anions. In order to evaluate the effect of different soil P status on Se availability from fertilizer, adsorption studies were ...
