The GPX3‐VCAM1 Axis Gates Pro‐Fibrotic Tubule Cell Fate in Hyperuricemic Nephropathy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hyperuricemia induces NLRP3 inflammasome signaling activation and downregulation of GPX3 in proximal tubular epithelial cells, leading to oxidative stress–driven VCAM1 upregulation, emergence of pro‐fibrotic proximal tubule cells, macrophage recruitment, and renal fibrosis.

Chemical, Biological, and Ecological Evidence for Aerobic Deoxynivalenol Detoxification in Agronomic Soil-Derived Bacterial Communities

open access: yesToxins
Deoxynivalenol (DON) is a prevalent trichothecene mycotoxin in cereals that poses food and feed safety risks while causing important economic losses. Microbial biotransformation offers a selective, mild strategy for DON detoxification.

Complete Pathway Refactoring and Combinatorial Biosynthesis of Anthracyclines for Modulation of Histone Eviction and DNA Damage Bioactivities

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A synthetic biology platform was established for the complete refactoring of complex anthracycline biosynthetic pathways in Streptomyces coelicolor using standardized, chemically synthetic DNA parts. This modular construction enabled streamlined combinatorial biosynthesis, yielding novel analogs that decouple DNA damage from chromatin damage (histone ...

Dual Repression by IPA1 Fine‐Tunes OsbZIP79‐Mediated Salt Tolerance in Rice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dual repression by IPA1 fine‐tunes OsbZIP79‐mediated salt tolerance in rice: direct transcriptional inhibition under normal conditions and salt‐induced degradation under stress. This dual mechanism activates OsbZIP79 to regulate Na+/K+ homeostasis and redox balance via downstream genes, enabling optimal salt stress response.

Atypical Condensation Domains Guide Discovery and Illuminate Biosynthesis of Myxoglucamides Featuring Vinyl‐Substituted, α‐Oxidized γ‐Amino Acids

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Genome mining of atypical condensation (C) domains leads to the discovery of myxoglucamides, glycolipopeptides featuring an unprecedented vinyl‐substituted, α‐oxidized γ‐amino acid. Biosynthetic studies reveal a discrete C‐domain‐like O‐acyltransferase, a β‐hydroxylation‐dependent chain‐extension checkpoint, and an unusual pathway for γ‐amino acid ...

Dehalogenases in soil bacteria [PDF]

open access: yes
A number of bacterial strains were isolated from soil, by direct plating and enrichment culture, which were able to grow on chlorinated alkanoic acids as the sole carbon and energy source. Sixteen of these isolates were divided into five groups on the basis of differences in their dehalogenase activities towards monochloroacetic acid (MCA ...
