Using field‐based holo‐omics, we demonstrate that developmental shifts in sorghum leaf metabolomes drive a noncanonical fungal succession from stress tolerators (S) through ruderals (R) to competitors (C). Antifungal metabolites in young leaves select for S strategists with expanded genomes, transient maltose pulses during flowering favor fast‐growing ...

Foliar spraying of CS‐CDs can form a film on the leaves of Brassica rapa, effectively reducing the enrichment and absorption of PS in the leaves, while increasing the biomass and nutrient content of the plants. In addition, CS‐CDs can also enrich the interfoliar microbial community and activate the plant's own defense metabolic pathways.

Wildfire impact : natural experiment reveals differential short-term changes in soil microbial communities [PDF]
A wildfire which overran a sensor network site provided an opportunity (a natural experiment) to monitor short-term post-fire impacts (immediate and up to three months post-fire) in remnant eucalypt woodland and managed pasture plots.

Understanding soil bacterial communities for sustainable agriculture
Nutrient loss from synthetic fertilizer use contributes to poor water quality, conversion of native landscapes to agricultural production reduces biodiversity, and antibiotic use in animal production contributes to antibiotic resistance. Therefore, agriculture can have adverse effects on local and global environments.

Isolation of Rhizosphere Bacterial Communities from Soil
Rhizosphere bacterial communities have become a major focal point of research in recent years, especially regarding how they affect plants and vice versa (Philippot et al., 2013). Changes in microbial density and diversity within the rhizosphere occur in a spatial temporal manner.

Phylogenetic structure of soil bacterial communities predicts ecosystem functioning [PDF]
Quantifying diversity with phylogeny-informed metrics helps understand the effects of diversity on ecosystem functioning (EF). The sign of these effects remains controversial because phylogenetic diversity and taxonomic identity may interactively influence EF. Positive relationships, traditionally attributed to complementarity effects, seem unimportant

Lignin engineering in field-grown poplar trees affects the endosphere bacterial microbiome [PDF]
Cinnamoyl-CoA reductase (CCR), an enzyme central to the lignin bio-synthetic pathway, represents a promising biotechnological target to reduce lignin levels and to improve the commercial viability of lignocellulosic biomass. However, silencing of the CCR

Biogeographic survey of soil bacterial communities across Antarctica
AbstractBackgroundAntarctica and its unique biodiversity are increasingly at risk from the effects of global climate change and other human influences. A significant recent element underpinning strategies for Antarctic conservation has been the development of a system of Antarctic Conservation Biogeographic Regions (ACBRs). The datasets supporting this

Dominant antimicrobial resistance reservoirs in Klebsiella pneumoniae vary across eco‐geographic settings rather than following a universal pattern. Integrated One Health and global genomic analyses show that lineage structure, integron load, and cross‐niche connectivity shape whether AMR burden accumulates primarily in human or nonhuman compartments ...
