Bacterial Diversity of the Soil of the Polar Tundra of Russia
Paleontological Journal, 2020This review summarizes the results of the study of bacterial communities of seasonally thawed soil horizons in the polar tundra of Russia. It has been shown that the representatives of different physiological groups of microorganisms developing in the soils of this extremely cold habitat are involved in the global biological cycle of carbon.

Metals Affect Soil Bacterial and Fungal Functional Diversity Differently
Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, 2007Abstract Heavy metals can cause a decrease in the taxonomic diversity of soil communities. Because of functional redundancy, it remains unclear to what extent different functions performed by the soil microbial communities may be affected by pollution.

Bacterial diversity of Serbian agriculural soils
The diversity and abundance of rhizosphere microbiota significantly influence plant growth. Interactions within this microbiota, as well as with plants, are complex and varied, ranging from beneficial to harmful. Despite increasing research on these plant-microbe relationships, much remains unknown.Gavrilović, Bojana +4 more

Bacterial diversity in soils vulnerable to desertification
2019Introduction Mediterranean soils are experiencing increasingly negative effects of climate change due to drought and extreme weather phenomena that negatively affect agriculture, already suffering social and economic constraints. The soil microbiota is recognized as key player in both diversity and productivity of terrestrial ecosystems and it is ...

Spatial scales of soil bacterial diversity â the size of a clone
FEMS Microbiology Ecology, 2004The spatial distribution of the tremendous bacterial diversity in soil partially depends on the broad range of scales of soil physical structures and the size of bacteria. The aim of this article is to collect information on spatial distribution of bacteria, the genetic structure of bacterial populations and communities, and on spatial constraints that

Molecular Approach to Study Soil Bacterial Diversity
2014Soil harbors planet earth’s most of the undiscovered biological diversity. Traditionally, the analysis of soil microbial communities has relied on culturing techniques using a variety of culture media designed to maximize the recovery of diverse microbial flora. Only a small fraction (

[Bacterial diversity in microcosms of soils with various humidity].
Mikrobiologiia, 2002The succession analysis of bacterial diversity in the A horizons (rich in organic matter) of three contrasting types of soil--burozem, soddy gley soil, and chernozem--showed that the bacterial diversity of soil microcosms in humid regions can be adequately evaluated only if soil samples are incubated at different soil moisture contents.

[Bacterial genetic diversity in soils and their correlation with vegetation].
Yi chuan xue bao = Acta genetica Sinica, 2000Soil is an important epicenter of biodiversity. Human activity has threatened such biodiversity through vegetation shift. As the major type of microbes, bacteria have played key roles in material cycling. Since simple morphological characters and the failure of the major portion of bacteria in surviving artificial cultivation have hindered bacterial ...
