Flux infiltration into soils: analytic solutions
Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 1994Summary: The Burgers model for flux infiltration into a semi-infinite soil is solved for generic space-dependent initial moisture and time dependent supply rate. General formulae in terms of quadratures are obtained for the moisture content and for the time to ponding of the soil.

Optimal discharge for closed-end border irrigation under soil infiltration variability
Agricultural Water Management, 2019Traditional border irrigation designs have rarely considered that soil infiltration can vary. The design of border irrigation systems can be improved by the optimization of border irrigation discharge.

Knowledge of water movement from the hillslope critical zone is important for water management. However, the runoff process resulting from extreme rainfall events remains unclear due to rare field‐based natural monitoring data.

Infiltration Induced Soil Instabilities
Groundwater, 1970ABSTRACT Theoretical analyses predicted and experimental observations—confirmed a mechanism by which strong capilary forces hindered instead of helped promote infiltration into soils. Infiltration into an unsaturated soil overlying an impermeable barrier displaces the air from the soil interstices.

Horizontal Infiltration into Layered Soils
Soil Science Society of America Journal, 1972Abstract A numerical solution of the soil water movement equation is presented for horizontal infiltration into air‐dry layered soils. The solution is based upon a scaled soil water diffusivity function common to six homogeneous soils and values of the microscopic characteristic length ascertained for each soil from homogeneous ...

Infiltration processes in cohesionless soils
ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 2012AbstractIn this paper, a thermodynamically consistent four‐phase continuum model in the framework of the mixture theory is presented describing infiltration processes of suspensions in cohesionless granular material. The paper focuses on the distinct form of the constitutive relation for the volume production term of the fluidized particles and its ...
