Persistent C in Soils

Mineralogical Magazine, 1998
There is general agreement that in many soils some C compounds persist for centuries and perhaps millenia, particularly deep in the soil profile. Various chemistries and mechanisms of stabilization of C compounds have been proposed to explain their longevity in soils.

Persistence of pronamide in soil

Pesticide Science, 1970
AbstractUnder field conditions, there was little loss of herbicidal activity following spring application of pronamide when the soil temperature remained below about 13°c, but under normal summer conditions loss was rapid (half‐life 2–4 weeks). The rate of loss was retarded when the surface soil became very dry.

Persistence of Chlorinated Hydrocarbon Insecticides in Soils

Science, 1967
The percentages of technical aldrin, chlordane, endrin, heptachlor, Dilan, isodrin, BHC, and toxaphene remaining in Congaree sandy loam soil after 14, years were 40, 40, 41, 16, 23, 15, 10, and 45, respectively; those of purified aldrin and technical dieldrin after 15 years were 28 and 31, respectively; and the percentage of technical DDT in three ...

Persistence of hexaconazole, a triazole fungicide in soils

Journal of Environmental Science and Health, Part B, 2000
Persistence of hexaconazole (2-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)- 1-(1H-1,2,5-triazol-1-yl) hexan-2-ol) was studied in alluvial, red and black soils under flooded and nonflooded conditions. This fungicide was more persistent in all soils under flooded conditions than under nonflooded conditions and at 27 degrees C than at 35 degrees C.

Persistence, degradation and leaching of coumaphos in soil

Journal of Environmental Science and Health, Part B, 2000
Dissipation, degradation and leaching of fresh 14C coumaphos, alkylated 14C coumaphos and aged residues of 14C coumaphos from vats were studied in alkaline sandy loam soil in soil columns in the field under subtropical conditions in Delhi for a year. Dissipation, degradation and bound residue formation was more in case of alkali treated coumaphos than ...

Persistence of chlorfenvinphos in soils

Pesticide Science, 1975
AbstractThe persistence and behaviour of chlorfenvinphos, an organophosphorus insecticide, was studied on different soils. On a peaty soil the insecticide was only very slowly degraded, there being 70% of the applied dose remaining after 21 weeks and 30% after nearly 12 months. On the sandy soils, however, persistence was much shorter; between 3 and 15%

Persistence of chlorpyrifos in a mineral and an organic soil

Journal of Environmental Science and Health, Part B, 1980
Chlorpyrifos (Lorsban emulsifiable concentrate) was applied at 3.4 kg AI/ha and incorporated into sand and muck soil contained in small field plots. Soil samples were taken at intervals over 2 yr. Radishes and carrots, seeded yearly, served as indicator crops for absorption of insecticide residues.
