Natural and artificial radioactive pollution in sediment and soil samples of the Bosphorus, Istanbul
Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 2023This study focused on the determination of natural (238U, 232Th, and 40K) and artificial (137Cs) radionuclide concentrations both in 55 sediment samples collected from various depths in the Bosphorus and 5 soil samples from the coastline of the Bosphorus, Istanbul, using gamma-ray spectrometry with an HPGe detector.

Radioactive pollution studies for soil samples in the South of Basra province
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2020Soil samples were collected from various locations within south of Basra province for radioactive pollution studies which involves (7) locations in this region. Gamma Counter Multichannel Analyzer and LB 1200 nuclear particles detector instruments were used for measurements the radioactive pollution levels of Gamma ray, Alpha (α) and Beta (β) nuclear ...

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), organochlorine pesticides (OCPs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), heavy metals content and radioactivity levels were measured in 27 soil samples collected from Priština, the capital of Kosovo and Metohija. The sixteen PAHs, twelve OCPs and six PCBs congeners were determined by gas chromatography system with ...

AbstractThe interaction of poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) and poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) with strontium ions and the binding of strontium ions by equimolar interpolymer complexes (IPCs) of PAA and PEG were studied. The stability constants of binary polymer–metal complexes were determined.

Soil organic matter and carbonates facing radioactive metal pollution
Pollution from uranium, thorium, and radium poses significant environmental and public health risks. This study examines two regions with distinct soil types: carbonated and marshy soils. Soil samples were selected based on carbonate (28.83% and 9.79%) and organic matter content (22.6% and 1.8%). The research aims to evaluate the role of carbonates andopenaire +1 more source
