Study the Effect of Soil Compaction and Biochar on Some Soil Physical Parameters

open access: yesمجلة ديالى للعلوم الزراعية
An experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of soil compaction levels and biochar addition on some soil physical parameters, namely; bulk density, particle density, soil porosity, hydraulic conductivity and infiltration.

Soil Strength and Porosities Associated with Cropping Sequences [PDF]

open access: yesSoil Science Society of America Journal, 1974
Abstract The effects of cropping sequences on the strength and porosity of the Portneuf silt loam soil were studied in south‐central Idaho under normal field conditions. Undisturbed soil cores were collected from the surface 20 cm of seven fields with cropping histories ranging from continuous pasture to ...

Influence of Carbon Nanoparticles on Electrically Induced Wear of Grease‐Lubricated Steels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
When an electric current enters a pair of rubbing surfaces, enormous damage takes place. In this research, how such damage occurs in the presence of protective grease and the mitigation with added carbon nanoparticles, were investigated. It was discovered that those particles regulate transport and interfacial electrical stability of the grease ...

Acute Sensitivity of Landslide Rates to Initial Soil Porosity

open access: yesScience, 2000
Some landslides move imperceptibly downslope, whereas others accelerate catastrophically. Experimental landslides triggered by rising pore water pressure moved at sharply contrasting rates due to small differences in initial porosity. Wet sandy soil with porosity of about 0.5 contracted during slope failure, partially liquefied, and accelerated within ...

Nanozymes at the Bio‐Nano Interface: From Synthesis, Defect Engineering, Catalytic Behavior in Biological Microenvironments, and Biosafety Implications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Nanozymes (NZs) have emerged as versatile artificial enzymes with tunable catalytic properties driven by atomic coordination, defect engineering, and surface chemistry. This review presents a bio–nano interface framework linking synthesis strategies, structural design, and catalytic behavior within complex biological microenvironments.

Anti‐Slip Material‐Based Strategies and Approaches

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This review highlights the principle mechanisms of slipping at the microscale, linking contact mechanics with a friction behavior model for surface interfaces. Main strategies to develop anti‐slip properties to the surfaces are discussed alongside standardized testing approaches.

Effects of legume-cover crop rotations on soil pore characteristics and particulate organic matter distributions in Vertisol based on X-ray computed tomography

open access: yesGeoderma
Cover crops have been used as an effective soil management practice to improve soil pore structure and promote particulate organic matter (POM) accumulation.

Software for micromorphometric characterization of soil pores obtained from 2-D image analysis

open access: yesScientia Agricola, 2016
Studies of soil porosity through image analysis are important to an understanding of how the soil functions. However, the lack of a simplified methodology for the quantification of the shape, number, and size of soil pores has limited the use of ...

3D Printed Omniphobic Slippery Liquid Infused Porous Surfaces for Low Surface Tension Repellency

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A 3D printing strategy fabricates omniphobic slippery liquid‐infused porous structures with lubricant reservoirs and interconnected microchannels. A post‐printing surface treatment modifies the porous surface to ensure compatibility with the infused fluorinated lubricant.
