Vertical migration of microplastics along soil profile under different crop root systems.

Environmental Pollution, 2021
Microplastics are highly accumulated in soils and supposed to migrate vertically due to water infiltration, fauna activities, and root growth. In this study, the vertical migration of microplastics along soil profile under three crop roots (corn, soybean,

Microbial-induced carbonate precipitation prevents Cd2+ migration through the soil profile.

Science of the Total Environment, 2022
Cadmium (Cd)-containing wastewater has been used to irrigate agricultural land. However, long term usage has resulted in the accumulation of Cd in the soil systems, which can eventually leach into the aquifer, contaminating groundwater. Microbial-induced

Maize straw and its biochar affect phosphorus distribution in soil aggregates and are beneficial for improving phosphorus availability along the soil profile

European Journal of Soil Science, 2021
Return of crop straw and its biochar to the agricultural field decreases pressure on phosphorus (P) resources and reduces leaching and P runoff. We conducted a 5‐year field trial from 2013 to 2017 to study the capability of maize straw and its biochar to

Shallow groundwater table fluctuations affect bacterial communities and nitrogen functional genes along the soil profile in a vegetable field

Agriculture, Ecosystems & Environment. Applied Soil Ecology, 2020
Fluctuations in the shallow groundwater table change the biochemical environment and nitrogen cycling processes along the soil profile and cause the loss of nitrogen from the soil profile and nitrogen pollution in shallow groundwater.

Carbofuran degradation in soil profiles

Journal of Environmental Science and Health, Part B, 1997
Two soils, Puyallup fine sandy loam from Puyallup, WA, and Ellzey fine sand from Hastings, FL, each with a prior history of carbofuran exposure but with different pedological and climatological characteristics, were found to exhibit enhanced degradation toward carbofuran in surface and subsurface soil layers.

Contrasting impacts of long-term application of manure and crop straw on residual nitrate-N along the soil profile in the North China Plain.

Science of the Total Environment, 2019
The effects of long-term animal manure application and crop straw incorporation on the migration of carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) deep into the soil profile and the associated N leaching risk in particular have not been thoroughly elucidated to date.

Characterisation of Soil Profile Roughness

Biosystems Engineering, 2005
By using a laser profiler, the surface height variation trace of three types of tillage soil profiles, that is ploughed, harrowed and rolled surface, are obtained. In order to acquire the different direction profiles of every tillage type, the profiles at 0 (parallel), 45 and 90 (perpendicular) degrees with respect to the tillage direction are measured.
