THE EFFECTS OF GYTTJA ON SOIL PROPERTIES IN NICKELCONTAMINATED SOILS
In this study, the effects of gyttja on some soil properties in two different nickel-contaminated soils (Inceptisol and Entisol) were investigated. This study was conducted with the application of three levels of gyttja (0, 5 and 10%) in two different soils (Inceptisol and Entisol) contaminated with Ni at three levels of concentration (0, 40 and 80 mg ...

Mechanical properties of tree roots for soil reinforcement models
Evidence from forestry has shown that part of the forest floor bearing capacity is delivered by tree roots. The beneficial effect however varies and diminishes with increasing number of vehicle passes. Roots potential for reinforcing the soil is known to

The optimization of going management on UK racecourses using controlled water applications [PDF]
Non-uniform surface rating (going) on a racecourse increases the potential for risk of injury to competing horses and their riders. Variability in soil type and strength are the primary cause of inconsistent going.

Echinoderm‐Inspired Autonomy for Soft‐Legged Robots
Inspired by echinoderms, a modular soft robot achieves autonomous phototaxis without a central controller or explicit communication. Each limb independently adapts its actuation timing through local sensing and short‐term memory. Coordination emerges purely from physical interactions, demonstrating resilience to changes in morphology, environment, and ...
