1. A procedure is described for evaluating an “index of texture” (I.T.), based on determinations of moisture contents at the point of stickiness (P), and of sand contents (S) of soil samples.2. The procedure is simple, and allows of a rapid laboratory examination of a great number of spot samples, so that detailed texture maps can readily be ...

Distribution of 210Po activity and soil texture in agricultural soil
Radiation Protection DosimetryAbstract The assessment of 210Po in agricultural soil matrices in different regions of Kerala and Karnataka was studied. The wet ash method was used to find the activity concentration of 210Po. The alpha activity was counted using a silver-activated zinc sulfide counter of 30% efficiency, and the activity was calculated.

Hyperspectral soil texture classification
IEEE Workshop on Advances in Techniques for Analysis of Remotely Sensed Data, 2003, 2004A soil texture classification system is developed and exploited in the hyperspectral domain. The hyperspectral signatures of three different pure soil textures, i.e., sand, silt and clay, combined with a linear mixture model, are used to generate signals representing different types of soil textures.

Improvement of Soil Texture Classification with LiDAR Data
IGARSS 2020 - 2020 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2020Models for the prediction of soil texture for the Abitibi River Forest (ARF) region in the District of Cochrane in Ontario, Canada were created from environmental covariates generated from remotely-sensed data as soil formation factors. A novel approach of incorporating LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) retrievals for the entire study area to derive ...

Soil texture and structure: role in soil health
2018Soil texture is a major parameter in quantifying basic soil properties. Healthy soils are well aggregated and provide a continuous pore system with high surface accessibility. They are well aerated, contain sufficient plant available water and provide a reliable filter and buffer capacity.

THE TEXTURES OF SOILS IN THE OXFORD REGION
Journal of Soil Science, 1965Summary The results of nearly 500 mechanical analyses on soils of the Oxford region are summarized, to define norms for the textures of soils on the main local parent materials. Surprisingly, the standard deviations of individual clay and silt analyses, about the means for soils on each parent material, bear very little relation to ...

A model for predicting soil texture
SPIE Proceedings, 2003Structures visible on soil profiles contain transport-relevant information (pedological horizons, boundaries between them, biopores, skeleton, and other macroscopic features). The knowledge of the shape and connectivity of such structures is a first order approximation for predicting flow and transport under given boundary conditions.

Soil Mechanics of Unsaturated Soils with Fractal-Texture
2014The mechanical properties of unsaturated soils are a function of matric suction, and can be obtained based on currently available procedures. However, each procedure has its limitations and consequently cares should be taken in the selection of a proper procedure.

Modified Textural Soil Classification
2020In this world, different types of soils are present. These soils are consisting of different types of soil particles. The engineering properties of soil are defined on the basis of particles size and consistency limits. Soil was classified into different divisions and subdivisions by different organizations.
