Toward Autonomous Self‐Healing in Soft Robotics: A Review and Perspective for Future Research
In this article, five different phases (damage detection, cleaning, damage closure, material healing, and healing assessment) are investigated to have an autonomous self‐healing at the system level with the focus on soft robotics. It delves into the importance of each phase, why and where they matter, and reviews relevant technologies that enable ...

Decreasing the Cost of Morphing in Adaptive Morphogenetic Robots
Shape‐morphing propulsive limbs enhance locomotion across land‐to‐water transitions, but prior designs rely on thermally responsive components, coupling performance to environmental temperature. This study introduces a pressure‐responsive mechanism that reduces morphing energy costs, enables rapid transitions, and minimizes failure modes.

A mobile robot equipped with a 3D‐printed, noninvasive electrophysiological sensor for real‐time monitoring of tomato plant health based on irrigation levels is presented. The sensor provides high electrical reliability, sensitive electrophysiological signal detection (0.0122 mV), and 86.91% classification accuracy using scalogram images, thereby ...

Extreme fire severity interacts with seed traits to moderate post‐fire species assemblages
Abstract Premise Climate change is globally pushing fire regimes to new extremes, with unprecedented large‐scale severe fires. Persistent soil seed banks are a key mechanism for plant species recovery after fires, but extreme fire severity may generate soil temperatures beyond thresholds seeds are adapted to.

Grass functional traits reflect the long history of fire and grazers in the savannas of Texas
Abstract Premise Understanding relationships among grass traits, fire, and herbivores may help improve conservation strategies for savannas that are threatened by novel disturbance regimes. Emerging theory, developed in Africa, emphasizes that functional traits of savanna grasses reflect the distinct ways that fire and grazers consume biomass ...
