Determination of soil–water characteristic curve variables

Computers and Geotechnics, 2012
Abstract Soil–water characteristic curve (SWCC) contains the fundamental information needed for describing the mechanical behavior of unsaturated soil. Some parameters such as air-entry value, slope at the inflection point, residual water content and residual suction are commonly used to describe the SWCC and other associated properties such as shear

Soil–water characteristic curves of Singapore residual soils

Geotechnical & Geological Engineering, 2001
Soil—water characteristic curves were obtained for a number of Singapore residual soil samples. Soil samples were obtained from the two main residual soil formations, the Jurong sedimentary formation and the Bukit Timah granitic formation, at various depths. The effect of weathering on the shape of the soil—water characteristic curve is examined.

Review of Soil-Water Characteristic Curve Equations

Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, 1997
Practical applications of unsaturated soil mechanics still lag behind the state-of-the-art knowledge. The main stumbling block is the time-consuming processes involved in the measurement of the unsaturated soil parameters required for the constitutive models.

Soil Freezing and Soil Water Characteristic Curves

Soil Science Society of America Journal, 1966
Abstract An earlier paper suggested that the soil water characteristic (SWC) of soil should have an analogue to be called the soil freezing characteristic (SFC) that could be obtained by freezing saturated soil in an apparatus functionally related to the pressure plate apparatus.

Soil-water characteristic curves of peaty soils

2020
In Singapore, peaty soils are found in several locations at shallow depths between 3m and 5m. Peaty soils, having low strength and high compressibility, have always been regarded as a poor geomaterial. In construction where peaty soils are encountered, they are generally replaced with more competent soil.

Soil–Water Characteristic Curve of Gypseous Soil

Geotechnical and Geological Engineering, 2014
The soil–water characteristic curve (SWCC), also known as soil–water retention curve, is a key tool in assessing the behavior and properties of unsaturated soil. The SWCC of gypseous soil with 0, 5, 15 and 25 % gypsum content was determined, using tensiometric plate, osmotic membrane and vapour equilibrium techniques, with suction pressures ranging ...
