Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.

Estimation of soil properties by an artificial neural network

open access: yesMagazine of Civil Engineering, 2022
Empirical dependencies are often used in various fields of geotechnics and civil engineering. The existing empirical formulas are mainly developed with the use of regression and multiple regression.

Printed Integrated Logic Circuits Based on Chitosan‐Gated Organic Transistors for Future Edible Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Edible electronics needs integrated logic circuits for computation and control. This work presents a potentially edible printed chitosan‐gated transistor with a design optimized for integration in circuits. Its implementation in integrated logic gates and circuits operating at low voltage (0.7 V) is demonstrated, as well as the compatibility with an ...

Spatial Distribution of Soil Structural Stability Under Different Management and Use Systems in La Molina, Perú

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Soil Science
Soil degradation poses a threat to agricultural productivity and environmental sustainability. Intensive use, mechanical disturbances, and inappropriate practices deteriorate soil structure, reducing its water retention capacity, resistance to erosion ...

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Analysis of Disinfection in Greenhouse Soils with Medium-Temperature Steam Produced by Solar Energy

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
The soils of agricultural crops begin to suffer from arvenses and pathogens that are harmful to new crops after going through several production cycles. The chemical control of these pathogens is carried out through fumigants, which are applied at doses ...

Self‐Sintering Ionogel Binder for Flexible, Recyclable, and Healable Printed Giant Magnetoresistive Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Electronic waste has emerged as a major environmental challenge, driven by the massive consumption and a limited lifetime of modern electronic devices, stimulating the development of sustainable electronics. Here, an all‐biomaterial gelatin‐choline‐citric acid ([Ch][CA]) ionogel is developed as an active binder to realize self‐sintered ...

Pinpointing the Mechanism of Magnetic Enhancement in Modern Soils Using High‐Resolution Magnetic Field Imaging

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2023
In well‐buffered modern soils, higher annual rainfall is associated with enhanced soil ferrimagnetic mineral content, especially of ultrafine particles that result in distinctive rock magnetic properties. Hence, paleosol magnetism has been widely used as
