Variable Selection for Illness‐Death Processes Under Dual Observation Schemes
ABSTRACT The classical illness‐death process offers a useful framework for studying the progression of chronic disease while jointly modeling death. In many settings the time of disease progression is not observed directly, but progression status is recorded at intermittent assessment times.

A discrete-time system with service control and repairs
This paper discusses a discrete-time queueing system with starting failures in which an arriving customer follows three different strategies. Two of them correspond to the LCFS (Last Come First Served) discipline, in which displacements or expulsions of ...

Spectrum Handoffs Based on Preemptive Repeat Priority Queue in Cognitive Radio Networks
Cognitive radio can significantly improve the spectrum efficiency, and spectrum handoff is considered as an important functionality to guarantee the quality of service (QoS) of primary users (PUs) and the continuity of data transmission of secondary ...

Abstract Background and Purpose Alcohol abuse and affective disorders are severe comorbid psychiatric diseases characterized by impaired brain synaptic transmission. The role of presynaptic scaffolding proteins coordinating presynaptic plasticity and neurotransmitter release, such as Bassoon (Bsn), in the pathogenesis of these disorders remains elusive.

Siponimod lowered the risk of wheelchair use in SPMS patients compared to placebo, especially in those with active disease. Time to wheelchair is a key metric for evaluating treatment in SPMS. ABSTRACT Background Delaying time to requiring a wheelchair in people living with MS is an important treatment goal to maintain quality of life and guard against

This paper examines a discrete-time retrial queuing system that incorporates negative customers, system breakdowns, and repairs. In this model, an arriving customer has the option to go directly to the server, pushing the currently served customer, if ...

Randomized assignment of jobs to servers in heterogeneous clusters of shared servers for low delay
We consider the problem of assignning jobs to servers in a multi-server system consisting of N parallel processor sharing servers, categorized into M (≪N) different types according to their processing capacities or speeds.

Optimization of Worker Redeployment for Enhancing Customer Service Performance
This study considers ways in which workers can be allocated dynamically in the few hours before the truck departure to flush the system of orders that are almost completed, thereby increasing the service performance of the system.
