Sojourn Times in Queueing Networks

Mathematics of Operations Research, 1982
We consider a queueing network with types of customers. Poisson arrivals, type dependent routing and state dependent service. A number of stochastic aspects relating to sojourn times are investigated. Included are limiting state distributions imbedded at customer move times, mean sojourn times, and sojourn time distributions along overtake-free paths.

Quantiles of Sojourn Times

open access: yes, 2006
Fast response times and the satisfaction of response time quantile targets are important performance criteria for almost all transaction processing, computer-communication and other operational systems. However, response time quantiles tend to be difficult to obtain in stochastic models, even when the mean value of the response time has a relatively ...

Sojourn times of the Hadamard walk in one dimension

Quantum Information Processing, 2011
The Hadamard walk is a typical model of the discrete-time quantum walk. We investigate sojourn times of the Hadamard walk on a line by a path counting method.

Sojourn times in queueing networks

open access: yes, 1990
From a customer's point of view, the most important performance measure in a queueing network is his sojourn time. This paper presents a survey of sojourn time results in queueing networks. Particular attention is paid to product-form networks, for which exact expressions for the joint distribution of a customer's successive sojourn times along a quasi

Stationary Equilibrium of Mean Field Games with Congestion-dependent Sojourn Times

Adaptive Agents and Multi-Agent Systems, 2023
We consider stationary equilibria of mean-field games between agents which follow continuous time semi-Markov decision processes with finite states and actions, when congestion affects their state-sojourn times but not the reward and transition structure.

Sojourn times in a Markovian queue with working breakdowns and delayed working vacations

Computers & industrial engineering, 2021
The current study considers a Markovian queue, where the server is subject to breakdowns while providing service to customers. During a breakdown period, the server lowers the service rate, rather than completely halting services provision.

Suprema and sojourn times of Lévy processes with exponential tails

open access: yesStochastic Processes and Their Applications, 1997
We study the tail behaviour of the supremum of sample paths of Lévy process with exponential tail of the Lévy measure. Our approach is based on the theory of sojourn times developed by S. Berman.

Sojourn Times of Brownian Sheet

Periodica Mathematica Hungarica, 2000
The distribution of \(\int_{[0,1]^2} v(B_s) \, ds\) is given if \(v=1_{[0, \infty)}\), \(v=1_{[-1,1]}\) and \(v=1_{(-\infty,1)}\).

Sojourn Time Minimization of Successful Jobs

ACM SIGMETRICS Performance Evaluation Review, 2022
Due to a growing interest in deep learning applications [5], compute-intensive and long-running (hours to days) training jobs have become a significant component of datacenter workloads. A large fraction of these jobs is often exploratory, with the goal of determining the best model structure (e.g., the number of layers and channels in a convolutional ...
