Abstract Anadromous salmonids migrate seaward to exploit feeding and growth opportunities in marine habitats, yet how smolt biological characteristics influence their marine migratory behavior remains poorly understood. This study used 9 years of trout (Salmo trutta) population monitoring data from 15,595 tagged age‐0+ parr, 1033 smolts detected ...

Palaces for a New Spain Nobility: Between Creole Identity and Academicism
ABSTRACT Mexico City and Havana had a significant number of noble palaces during the eighteenth century. Until now, the dearth of historical documentation on their construction has hampered any approximation, requiring other methodologies. Here, it is intended to establish how a new visual code was defined, consistent both with their local style and ...

A method for approximating the variance of the sojourn times in star-shaped queueing networks
We study the sojourn times in an open star-shaped queueing network, with a central processor-sharing (PS) node and multiple multi-server First-Come-First Served (FCFS) nodes. Each customer alternatingly visits the central node and one of the other nodes,

Nocturnal Sleep Breathing Patterns in Healthy Adolescents Residing at Very High Altitudes in Bolivia
ABSTRACT Data on sleep and respiratory patterns among adolescents residing at very high altitude (> 3500 m) remain scarce, and altitude‐related physiological differences may influence these parameters. Studying adolescents at different very high altitudes is crucial, as subtle environmental variations could affect sleep‐related oxygenation and ...

Note--Some Results on Sojourn Times in Acyclic Jackson Networks
Lemoine (Lemoine, A. 1977. Networks of queues--a survey of equilibrium analysis. Management Sci. 24 464-481.) studies sojourn times in acyclic, Jackson networks as part of his survey of equilibrium results.

Random Walk with Heterogeneous Sojourn Time
We introduce a discrete-time random walk model on a one-dimensional lattice with a nonconstant sojourn time and prove that the discrete density converges to a solution of a continuum diffusion equation. Our random walk model is not Markovian due to the heterogeneity in the sojourn time, in contrast to a random walk model with a nonconstant walk length.

Inference on Common Trends in a Cointegrated Nonlinear SVAR
ABSTRACT We consider the problem of performing inference on the number of common stochastic trends when data is generated by a cointegrated CKSVAR (a two‐regime, piecewise affine SVAR; Mavroeidis, 2021), using a modified version of the Breitung (2002) multivariate variance ratio test that is robust to the presence of nonlinear cointegration (of a known

A Note on the Waiting-Time Distribution in an Infinite-Buffer GI[X]/C-MSP/1 Queueing System
This paper deals with a batch arrival infinite-buffer single server queue. The interbatch arrival times are generally distributed and arrivals are occurring in batches of random size.

Abstract This article brings together theories of history and filmic realism to analyze the representation of the provinces in Nataliia Meshchaninova’s The Hope Factory (Kombinat “Nadezhda,” 2014) and Andrei Zviagintsev’s Leviathan (Leviafan, 2014). It argues that these two films share a typically realist attitude of respect toward the profilmic in ...
