Engineering the Crack Structure and Fracture Behavior in Monolayer MoS2 By Selective Creation of Point Defects. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Sci (Weinh), 2022
Sulfur and MoSn point defects are selectively created in various densities on suspended monolayer MoS2 using helium‐ and gallium‐ion‐beam lithography, subsequently followed by AFM nanoindentation test. Atomic scale imaging revels that different point defects lead to distinct fracture structures and mechanical characteristics.

Moving beyond disclosure: Stages of care in preclinical Alzheimer's disease biomarker testing. [PDF]

open access: yesAlzheimers Dement, 2022
Abstract Alzheimer's disease (AD) begins with an asymptomatic “preclinical” phase, in which abnormal biomarkers indicate risk for developing cognitive impairment. Biomarker information is increasingly being disclosed in research settings, and is moving toward clinical settings with the development of cheaper and non‐invasive testing.

Emotional response to amyloid beta status disclosure among research participants at high dementia risk. [PDF]

open access: yesAlzheimers Dement
Abstract INTRODUCTION Amyloid beta (Aβ) can be detected in vivo years before Alzheimer's disease (AD) symptom onset and, according to recent criteria, is sufficient for a biological diagnosis. This study evaluates emotional responses to Aβ status disclosure in cognitively normal individuals.

Sub-3 nm Intermetallic Ordered Pt3In Clusters for Oxygen Reduction Reaction. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Sci (Weinh), 2020
An ordered Pt3In/C catalyst with a minimum ordered size of 1 nm and an average size of 1.9 nm is synthesized with a facile method that can be easily scaled up. The product exhibits a high mass activity that is 4.1 times the corresponding value of the Pt/C catalyst, but costs only 1/4 of its price.

Reasons for undergoing amyloid imaging among cognitively unimpaired older adults. [PDF]

open access: yesAnn Clin Transl Neurol, 2021
Abstract Objectives Preclinical Alzheimer’s disease (AD) clinical trials screen cognitively unimpaired older adults for biomarker criteria and disclose their results. We examined whether participants in the Anti‐Amyloid Treatment in Asymptomatic Alzheimer’s disease Study with “elevated” and “not elevated” amyloid differed in scores on the “Views and ...

Impact of sharing Alzheimer's disease biomarkers with individuals without dementia: A systematic review and meta‐analysis of empirical data

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 19, Issue 12, Page 5773-5794, December 2023., 2023
Abstract Introduction We conducted a systematic literature review and meta‐analysis of empirical evidence on expected and experienced implications of sharing Alzheimer's disease (AD) biomarker results with individuals without dementia. Methods PubMed, Embase, APA PsycInfo, and Web of Science Core Collection were searched according to Preferred ...

Direct Visualization of Localized Vibrations at Complex Grain Boundaries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 35, Issue 13, March 29, 2023., 2023
Localized measurements of vibrations in the dislocation cores of a complex grain boundary are correlated with structure and nonstoichiometry using monochromated electron energy‐loss spectroscopy in a scanning transmission electron microscope. The experimental results are correlated with density functional theory calculations to understand the atomistic

MÜSSIGGANG IST ALLER LASTER ANFANG? LITERARISCHE UND FILMISCHE TYPEN DER VERWEIGERUNG IM MILIEU DER DEUTSCHEN GEGENKULTUR DER 1960ER/70ER JAHRE

open access: yesGerman Life and Letters, Volume 74, Issue 1, Page 109-129, January 2021., 2021
Abstract The article focuses on specific forms, characters and types of ‘primary rejection’ or refusal that emerged in German subculture and deviant counterculture in the 1960s and 1970s, rejecting the cultural norms of mainstream society. Beginning with socially distinctive figures such as the layabout and the commune‐dweller, the article examines ...

Von der Philosophie‐ zur Sozial‐ & Wirtschaftsgeschichte. Zwei Varianten des Exzerpierens beim jungen Marx

open access: yesBerichte zur Wissenschaftsgeschichte, Volume 43, Issue 2, Page 276-294, June 2020., 2020
Abstract This article investigates forms of excerpting and their variations as used by Marx. It compares two convolutes of excerpts from the early period of Marx’ work. The first form of excerpting is represented by the “Hefte zur epikureischen Philosophie” (1839/40), which Marx originally created for his dissertation. These booklets aim to reconstruct
