Adalimumab‐Poloxamer Conjugate for Bio‐Better: Enhanced Stability and Function

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Antibody‐polymer conjugates, particularly poloxamer conjugates, enhance antibody stability by improving tolerance to physicochemical stress and attenuating proteolysis by proteases. Furthermore, the higher affinity observed with poloxamer conjugation compared to standard PEGylation results in improved therapeutic efficacy in rheumatoid arthritis mouse ...

Nanodiamond‐Infused Microgels for pH‐Tunable Rheology, Lubrication, and UV Protection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Microgels consisting of swollen polyacrylic acid polymer networks, impregnated with nanodiamonds provide protection from ultraviolet (UV) radiation harmful to human health. Nanodiamonds enable UV blockage and control of the rheology (flow) and lubrication (skin‐feel) of these microgel‐skincare‐mimics.

Reconstruction of active regular motion in amoeba extract: dynamic cooperation between sol and gel states.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Amoeboid locomotion is one of the typical modes of biological cell migration. Cytoplasmic sol-gel conversion of an actomyosin system is thought to play an important role in locomotion.

A sol-gel method for growing superconducting MgB2 films

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper we report a new sol-gel method for the fabrication of MgB2 films. Polycrystalline MgB2 films were prepared by spin-coating a precursor solution of Mg(BH_4)_2 diethyl ether on (001)Al2O3 substrates followed with annealing in Mg vapor.

Sol–Gel Microcapsulation in Silica-Based Particles: A Comparative Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We compare the two main sol-gel/emulsion methods to prepare silica-based microparticles doped with actives. Moreover, we analyze the morphpology of the resulting particles varying also the nature of the organosilane, and the pH of the sol-gel process ...

Substrate Engineering for Durable Omniphobic Liquid‐Like Surfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The significant yet less investigated role of substrates in determining the liquid‐repellency and mechanical durability of liquid‐like surfaces (LLSs) is explored. Thick and crack‐free sol–gel silica intermediary layers are developed that can smoothen substrate asperity roughness even at the micron scale, enabling omniphobic polydimethylsiloxane‐based ...

Entropic Elasticity at the Sol-Gel Transition

open access: yes, 2001
The sol-gel transition is studied in two purely entropic models consisting of hard spheres in continuous three-dimensional space, with a fraction $p$ of nearest neighbor spheres tethered by inextensible bonds. When all the tethers are present ($p=1$) the
