Abstract Background Solanum aculeatissimum and Solanum torvum belong to the Solanum species, and they are essential plants known for their high resistance to diseases and adverse conditions. They are frequently used as rootstocks for grafting and are often crossbred with other Solanum species to leverage their resistance

Abstract Bushfires occur regularly in inland Australia because of the flammability of spinifex (Triodia species). Spinifex and fire are tied together by infertility: the plant is of limited palatability to consumers and accumulates into fuel. Spinifex regrows with cumulative rainfall, and fires recur every couple of decades.

RepeatOBserver: Tandem Repeat Visualisation and Putative Centromere Detection
ABSTRACT Tandem repeats play an important role in centromere structure, subtelomeric regions, DNA methylation, recombination and the regulation of gene activity. Analysis of their distribution in genomes offers a potential means for predicting putative centromere locations, which continues to be a challenge for genome annotation.

Reversibility of sex changes in the plant kingdom: more important than we thought?
ABSTRACT Compared to animals, plants show a wide range of reproductive strategies with different degrees of sex separation (e.g. dioecy, monoecy, hermaphroditism). While sex expression was previously thought to be genetically determined and fixed in plants, accumulating evidence suggests that sex expression can change reversibly even within one ...

Response of Different Tomato Accessions to Biotic and Abiotic Stresses [PDF]
Accessions are prospective sources of genetic variability, as well as valuable genetic resources to deal with present and future crop breeding difficulties. The assessment of population structure and genetic diversity of tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum L.) that have been distributed in Iraqi Kurdistan region critical in breeding programs for the ...
