Identification of Solanum habrochaites loci that quantitatively influence tomato fruit ripening-associated ethylene emissions

Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 2009
The phytohormone ethylene is essential for ripening of climacteric fruits such as tomato. While many of the genes responsible for ethylene synthesis and perception have been identified, the regulatory network controlling autocatalytic climacteric ethylene synthesis is not well understood.

Grafting tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) onto the rootstock of a high-altitude accession of Solanum habrochaites improves suboptimal-temperature tolerance

Environmental and Experimental Botany, 2008
Grafting is regarded as a promising tool to broaden the temperature optimum of elite tomato cultivars. However, suitable low-temperature tolerant tomato rootstocks are not yet available and its breeding is hampered by a lack of variation in low-temperature tolerance within the cultivated tomato.

Overexpression of ShDHN, a dehydrin gene from Solanum habrochaites enhances tolerance to multiple abiotic stresses in tomato

Plant Science, 2015
Dehydrins (DHNs) play important roles in plant adaptation to abiotic stress. In this study, a cold-induced SK3-type DHN gene (ShDHN) isolated from wild tomato species Solanum habrochaites was characterized for its function in abiotic stress tolerance. ShDHN was constitutively expressed in root, leaf, stem, flower and fruit.

MEDIUM COMPOSITION FOR IN VITRO MID-TERM STORAGE OF SOLANUM HABROCHAITES TEST-TUBE PLANTS

Vegetable and Melon Growing
Purpose. To investigate effects of osmotically active substances on the growth and development of isolated microcuttings of the wild tomato species S. habrochaites Knapp & Spooner and to determine an optimal composition of nutrient medium for their mid-term storage in vitro. Methods.

Metabolomics and Transcriptomics Reveal the Role of the Terpene Biosynthetic Pathway in the Mechanism of Insect Resistance in Solanum habrochaites

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry
Terpenes are a large variety of natural organic compounds that can enhance the resistance of plants to phytophagous insects through induction. In this study, differential expression genes and metabolites of Alice Craig (AC) and Solanum habrochaite (SH) were screened and analyzed by transcriptomics and metabolomics.

RNA-seq transcriptome analysis of fruit pericarp in a set of Solanum habrochaites LA1777 ILs

2014
The tomato fruit is an ideal and well-studied model system for investigation of fruit development, flavor and nutrition. Exceptional variation in these traits is found within germplasm of the tomato clade and numerous genetic, molecular and germplasm resources enable efficient research in the tomato system.
