Mineral and Trace Elements Content in 30 Accessions of Tomato Fruits (Solanum lycopersicum L.,) and Wild Relatives (Solanum pimpinellifolium L., Solanum cheesmaniae L. Riley, and Solanum habrochaites S. Knapp & D.M. Spooner)

Biological Trace Element Research, 2010
Tomato quality and its potential health benefits are directly related to its chemical composition. The characterization of nutritional properties of Solanum germplasm is essential to choose suitable donor parents for breeding programs. In this sense, wild species could be very useful for tomato fruit quality genetic improvement. With this objective, in

Overexpression of ShDHN, a dehydrin gene from Solanum habrochaites enhances tolerance to multiple abiotic stresses in tomato

Plant Science, 2015
Dehydrins (DHNs) play important roles in plant adaptation to abiotic stress. In this study, a cold-induced SK3-type DHN gene (ShDHN) isolated from wild tomato species Solanum habrochaites was characterized for its function in abiotic stress tolerance. ShDHN was constitutively expressed in root, leaf, stem, flower and fruit.

Functional Genomics of Tomato Fruit Nutritional Quality in Solanum habrochaites LA1777 introgression lines

2017
Tomato fruit are a major dietary source of health promoting phytochemicals, and an excellent model system to investigate fleshy fruit development and ripening. A rich variation in health and sensory related compounds is found within germplasm of the tomato clade, and populations of introgression lines (ILs) originating from interspecific crosses ...

RNA-seq transcriptome analysis of fruit pericarp in a set of Solanum habrochaites LA1777 ILs

2014
The tomato fruit is an ideal and well-studied model system for investigation of fruit development, flavor and nutrition. Exceptional variation in these traits is found within germplasm of the tomato clade and numerous genetic, molecular and germplasm resources enable efficient research in the tomato system.
