Pattern of genetic variability of Solanum habrochaites in its natural area of distribution

open access: yesGenetic Resources and Crop Evolution, 2010
The tomato wild relative species Solanum habrochaites (previously known as Lycopersicon hirsutum) is a potential source of novel genes for tomato breeding. It shows resistance to many diseases and pests, cold tolerance and fruit quality traits. This species inhabits the western Andean slopes at high elevations from central Ecuador to central Peru.

A look into osmotic, ionic, and redox adjustments in wild tomato species under combined salt and water stress

open access: yesPlant Stress
Conventional tomato production is widely threatened by environmental changes that impose increasingly frequent and severe conditions of soil salinization and water shortage.

GRAFT TAKES OF TOMATO ON OTHER SOLANACEOUS PLANTS

open access: yesRevista Caatinga, 2017
This paper aimed to assess tomato grafting on different solanaceous species through two grafting methods. Scions were cut from cultivar Santa Cruz Kada seedlings.

An ATL78-like RING-H2 finger protein confers abiotic stress tolerance through interacting with RAV2 and CSN5B in tomato

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2016
RING finger proteins play an important role in plant adaptation to abiotic stresses. In the present study, a wild tomato (Solanum habrochaites) cold-induced RING-H2 finger gene, ShATL78L, was isolated, which has been identified as an abiotic stress ...

Carbocations and the Complex Flavor and Bouquet of Wine: Mechanistic Aspects of Terpene Biosynthesis in Wine Grapes. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Computational chemistry approaches for studying the formation of terpenes/terpenoids in wines are presented, using five particular terpenes/terpenoids (1,8-cineole, α-ylangene, botrydial, rotundone, and the wine lactone), volatile compounds (or their ...

Molecular diagnosis of phytoplasma in the wild tomato species Solanum habrochaites

open access: yes, 2022
Phytoplasmas are microorganisms without a cell wall that colonize the phloem of many crops. Diseases of plants caused by phytoplasma lead to decreased yields. In the Republic of Moldova, phytoplasma mainly affects tomato and grapevine. Phytoplasmosis of local tomato is associated with the presence of the pathogen lsquo;Candidatus Phytoplasma ...

Effects of High-Level Acylsugar-Producing Tomato Lines on the Development of Tomato Psyllids (Hemiptera: Triozidae). [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Acylsugars have been shown to provide activity against numerous insect pests of tomatoes. Comparison of acylsugar levels in four tomato plant lines, FA7/AS, FA2/AS, CU071026, and 'Yellow Pear', found that the acylsugar contents in the elevated acylsugar ...
