Rooting Characteristics of Solanum chacoense and Solanum tuberosum in Vitro

American Journal of Potato Research, 2017
The precise level of environmental control in vitro may aid in identifying genetically superior plant germplasm for rooting characteristics (RC) linked to increased foraging for plant nitrogen (N). The objectives of this research were to determine the phenotypic variation in root morphological responses of 49 Solanum chacoense (chc), 30 Solanum ...

Solanum tuberosum aegrotans

Comparison of the Calystegine Composition and Content of Potato Sprouts and Tubers from Solanum tuberosum Group Phureja and Solanum tuberosum Group Tuberosum

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2008
The calystegines detected in tubers from 17 Phureja ( S. tuberosum Group Phureja) lines and five Tuberosum ( S. tuberosum Group Tuberosum) cultivars were identified as the A 3 and B 2 structural types. Their concentration in whole tubers was of a similar order of magnitude in both species, as was the variability in the ratio of B 2 to A 3.

Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.)

2006
Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) is a globally important crop plant producing high yields of nutritionally valuable food in the form of tubers. It has been the focus of substantial study because of its use both as a staple food crop and as a potentially significant source of compounds of interest.

Cholesterol transformations in Solanum tubaerosum

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1964
Abstract Cholesterol-4-C14 and Δ4-cholesten-3-one-4-C14 were incubated with leaves from Solanum tuberosum in an aqueous medium. Radioactive transformation products were studied by thin-layer chromatography and microchemical reactions. One of the major transformation products of cholesterol was shown to be Δ4-cholesten-3-one.

Peripheral benzodiazepine receptors in potatoes (Solanum tuberosum)

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2004
The peripheral benzodiazepine receptor (PBR), an internal protein of the mammalian mitochondrial membrane, is involved in several metabolic functions such as steroidogenesis, oxidative phosphorylation, and regulation of cell proliferation. Here we report the presence of PBRs in parenchymal and meristematic tissues of potato (Solanum tuberosum).

Anther culture of Solanum tuberosum L.

Euphytica, 1973
Embryoid formation was induced in pollen of Solanum tuberosum, cv. Pentland Crown, Maris Piper and Record, by culturing anthers at or just prior to the first pollen mitosis. The composition of the medium was not critical in respect of either nutrients or hormones.

RFLP analysis and linkage mapping in Solanum tuberosum

Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1989
A morphologically and agronomically heterogeneous collection of 38 diploid potato lines was analysed for restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLPs) with 168 potato probes, including random genomic and cDNA sequences as well as characterized potato genes of known function. The use of four cutter restriction enzymes and a fragment separation range

Somatic hybridization in the genus Solanum: S. tuberosum and S. brevidens

Plant Cell Reports, 1984
Somatic hybrid plants were regenerated from fused mesophyll protoplasts of an albino potato (Solanum tuberosum spp. tuberosum) variant and Solanum brevidens, a non-tuber bearing species which is sexually incompatible with S. tuberosum. These somatic hybrid plants represent the first example of direct hybridization between potato and members of the ...
