Environmental Efficiency in Germany: The Role of Renewable Energy R&D, Labor Productivity, Fossil Fuel Inefficiency, and Energy Efficiency Investments

open access: yesNatural Resources Forum, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study examines the determinants of environmental efficiency in Germany between 1990 and 2022, focusing on labor productivity, green R&D productivity, fossil fuel inefficiency, and energy efficiency R&D expenditures. Using the Inverse Load Capacity Factor per unit of GDP as an indicator of environmental efficiency, the analysis utilizes ...

Climatic conditions, landscape, and habitat quality drive patch occupancy and larval density of a threatened mire butterfly

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
The Moorland Clouded Yellow (Colias palaeno) benefited from cattle grazing in three different ways by (i) fostering the nectar supply; (ii) enhancing rejuvenation of the host plant (Vaccinium uliginosum); and (iii) improving microclimatic conditions for successful development of the immature stages.

Solar wind flow about the terrestrial planets: 2. Comparison with gas dynamic theory and implications for solar‐planetary interactions

Journal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, 1983
This study utilizes gas dynamic calculations in conjunction with observational bow shock models to investigate the solar wind flow patterns about the terrestrial planets. Average dayside bow shock position could be predicted for the earth by theory with an error of only ∼2%, given the observed shape and location of the magnetopause.
