Steering Oxygen Activation Pathways via Redox Dual‐Defects in 2D Hydrated WO3 for High‐Yield Singlet Oxygen Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Redox dual‐defects (Cs substitution and O vacancies) in 2D hydrated WO3 steer O2 activation toward selective singlet oxygen evolution. WO‐CO achieves 8.6–15.8 times higher 1O2 production than single‐defect or pristine catalysts, enabling efficient pollutant mineralization via a pathway‐selective photocatalytic mechanism.

Light trapping in fluorescent solar collectors

open access: yes, 2012
A fluorescent solar collector (FSC) is an optoelectronic waveguide device that can concentrate both diffuse and direct sunlight onto a solar cell which is then converted to electricity.

Study of Reconnection Dynamics and Plasma Relaxation in MHD Simulation of a Solar Flare

open access: yes
Self-organization in continuous systems is associated with dissipative processes. In particular, for magnetized plasmas, it is known as magnetic relaxation, where the magnetic energy is converted into heat and kinetic energy of flow through the process ...

Climate - How unusual is today's solar activity?

open access: yes, 2005
To put global warming into context requires knowledge about past changes in solar activity and the role of the Sun in climate change. Solanki et al.1 propose that solar activity during recent decades was exceptionally high compared with that over the ...

Bandgap‐Engineered AlGaAs/GaAs Heterostructures for Wavelength‐Selective Dual‐Polarity Photoelectrochemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bandgap‐engineered AlGaAs/GaAs heterostructures exhibit wavelength‐selective dual‐polarity photoelectrochemistry, switching from photocathodic to photoanodic response depending on excitation wavelength. The polarity transition is governed by band‐selective absorption, built‐in electric‐field‐driven carrier transport, and interfacial charge‐transfer ...

An EOF Analysis of Water Vapor in the Middle Atmosphere and Lower Thermosphere Based on TIMED/SABER

open access: yesRemote Sensing
As a critical trace gas and a sensitive indicator of climate change, water vapor (H2O) plays a pivotal role in regulating the Earth’s radiative budget and middle-atmospheric chemical cycles.

Is It Real Type‐II or S‐Scheme? A Three‐Phase Diagnostic Protocol for Identifying Potentially Mislabeled Heterojunction Photocatalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Diagnostic analysis via the heterojunction validation funnel. The funnel illustrates the hierarchical stratification of 30 reported Type‐II systems based on the three‐phase, seven‐step diagnostic framework. Complete validation through all phases is achieved by only 3.3% of systems, while 96.7% lack full mechanistic validation, revealing a pervasive ...
