ABSTRACT THE Hottel-Whillier-Bliss generalized performance equation is probably the best available mathematical description for the performance of a flat plate collector. The most useful form of this equation utilizes the collec-tor heat removal factor and the collector loss coefficient.

Efficiency of solar plate air heaters

The efficiency of a solar air heating collector (SHC) has been investigated using a very simple nonstationary plate heating model. It is shown that the time to reach to the operating efficiency in the SHC is quite long. It is found that in the air heating temperature range 40–60 °C the stationary efficiencies of the SHC can be from 0.5 to 0.37.
