UNRESOLVED FINE-SCALE STRUCTURE IN SOLAR CORONAL LOOP-TOPS [PDF]
New and advanced space-based observing facilities continue to lower the resolution limit and detect solar coronal loops in greater detail. We continue to discover even finer sub-structures within coronal loop cross sections, in order to understand the nature of the solar corona.

A solar storm observed from the Sun to Venus using the STEREO, Venus Express, and MESSENGER spacecraft [PDF]
The suite of SECCHI optical imaging instruments on the STEREO-A spacecraft is used to track a solar storm, consisting of several coronal mass ejections (CMEs) and other coronal loops, as it propagates from the Sun into the heliosphere during May 2007 ...

Are Nonthermal Velocities in Active Region Coronal Loops Anisotropic?
We have measured line widths in active region coronal loops in order to determine whether the nonthermal broadening is anisotropic with respect to the magnetic field direction. These nonthermal velocities are caused by unresolved fluid motions.

ABSTRACT Dispersal during early life stages is a critical process shaping marine fish connectivity and population dynamics, yet direct field observations at the individual level remain elusive. This has limited our understanding of the factors controlling dispersal, including the impact of active swimming by larvae and juveniles. Here, we present a new

Short‐term performance responses of an intertidal fish to sedimentation and warming
Abstract Climate change is altering coastal ecosystems by causing environmental fluctuations, such as increases in temperature and turbidity, which pose major implications for fish physiology and behaviour. Increases in temperature affect fish food intake, swimming capacity and oxygen delivery, while increases in turbidity can impair or enhance prey ...

Thread Separation and Expansion Observed in Multistranded Solar Coronal Loops
The theoretical expectation that coronal loops should expand with height contrasts with observations that typically show constant cross sections. We investigate the idea that this discrepancy results from loops being composed of fine threads whose ...

Spaceborne and spaceborn: Physiological aspects of pregnancy and birth during interplanetary flight
Abstract Crewed interplanetary return missions that are on the planning horizon will take years, more than enough time for initiation and completion of a pregnancy. Pregnancy is viewed as a sequence of processes – fertilization, blastocyst formation, implantation, gastrulation, placentation, organogenesis, gross morphogenesis, birth and neonatal ...

Kink Oscillations of Curved Arcade Loops with a Magnetic Shear
We considered the kink oscillations of coronal magnetic loops, which form a coronal loop arcade with a magnetic shear. In this structure, the magnetic field consists of helical lines.

Plasma Stability in Turbulent Magnetic Flux Ropes Downstream of a Collisionless Shock
Abstract How pre‐existing solar wind turbulence, and coherent structures such as magnetic flux ropes within it, influence the transition of plasma across a shock is still poorly understood. Recently, in situ observations from the Earth's magnetosheath have been used to study plasma stability against ion kinetic instabilities. In the turbulent flow, the

Transverse Oscillations and Kelvin–Helmholtz Instability in Curved Arcade Loops with Siphon Flows
The effect of plasma flow in curved arcade loops on transverse waves and oscillations is examined analytically. The model under study is a semicircular magnetic slab with finite transverse extensions and a mass flow inside, in the zero- β plasma ...
