ROLE OF TRANSIENTS IN THE SUSTAINABILITY OF SOLAR CORONAL PLUMES
We report on the role of small-scale, transient magnetic activity in the formation and evolution of solar coronal plumes. Three plumes within equatorial coronal holes are analyzed over the span of several days based on the Solar Dynamic Observatory (SDO)/Atmospheric Imaging Assembly 171 A and 193 A images and SDO/Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager line ...

ABSTRACT A new antenna system with a digital spectro-correlator that provides high temporal, spectral, and amplitude resolutions has been commissioned at the Gauribidanur Observatory near Bangalore in India. Presently, it is used for observations of the solar coronal transients in the scarcely explored frequency range ≈30–15 MHz.

A two-dimensional, time-dependent magnetohydrodynamic model in the meridional plane with and without an ambient solar wind in an ambient radial magnetic field has been used to investigate mass motions associated with coronal transients. It is shown that the solar wind does not significantly affect the general dynamic characteristics of the mass motion.

Small Solar Wind Transients and Their Connection to the Large-Scale Coronal Structure [PDF]
It has been realized for some time that the slow solar wind with its embedded heliospheric current sheet often exhibits complex features suggesting at least partially transient origin. In this paper we investigate the structure of the slow solar wind using the observations by the Wind and STEREO spacecraft during two Carrington rotations (2054 and 2055)

Solar Transient Events and their Importance for Coronal Heating
Over the last decade, the uninterrupted high resolution coverage of the Sun both from the excellent range of telescopes aboard many spacecrafts and from ground-based instruments has led to a wealth of observations of small-scale dynamic events observed from the chromosphere to the transition region and corona.

Unusually low density regions in the compressed slow wind: Solar wind transients of small coronal hole origin [PDF]
We report on two small solar wind transients embedded in the corotating interaction region, characterized by surprisingly lower proton density compared with their surrounding regions. In addition to lower density, these two small solar wind transients showed other interesting features like higher proton temperature, higher alpha-proton ratios, and ...

Observational Study of Recurrent Jets Confined by Active Region Loops
With high spatial and temporal resolution data from the Solar Dynamics Observatory and the New Vacuum Solar Telescope (NVST), we present observations of recurrent jets confined by coronal loops that occurred in the active region NOAA 11726 from 02:00 to ...

Formation of a solar coronal transient with forerunner
A model of a solar coronal transient in the course of its formation is constructed. The main idea is that the formation of a coronal transient occurs at a quasi-stationary state of the solar atmosphere as a result of the interaction of weak coronal currents with a slowly growing magnetic field originating below the future transient area.

Power-law Distribution of Solar Cycle–modulated Coronal Jets
Power-law distributions have been studied as a significant characteristic of nonlinear dissipative systems. Since discovering the power-law distribution of solar flares that was later extended to nanoflares and stellar flares, it has been widely accepted

Observations of Mini Coronal Dimmings Caused by Small-scale Eruptions in the Quiet Sun
Small-scale eruptions could play an important role in coronal heating, generation of solar energetic particles (SEPs), and mass source of the solar wind.
