In-depth Analysis of the 2022 March 28 3He-rich Solar Energetic Particle Event

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
On 2022 March 28, a solar eruption from active region AR 12975 produced a solar energetic particle (SEP) event observed by BepiColombo (BC; 0.57 au), STEREO-A (STA; 0.97 au), GOES (1.0 au), ACE (L1), and Wind (L1).

Harnessing Outer Space for Improved Electrocaloric Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel radiative heat sink/source‐integrated electrocaloric (R‐iEC) system combines the electrocaloric (EC) effect with a thermally conductive radiative cooler (TCRC) to address heat dissipation limitations in EC devices. Utilizing outer space as a heat sink, the system achieves up to 240 W m−2 of heat dissipation performance, making it highly ...

The Effect of Solar Wind on Charged Particles’ Diffusion Coefficients

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The transport of energetic charged particles through magnetized plasmas is ubiquitous in interplanetary space and astrophysics, and the important physical quantities are the parallel and perpendicular diffusion coefficients of energetic charged particles.

Design of an interplanetary ultralow-noise three-dimensional energetic particle spectrometer

open access: yes地球与行星物理论评
The origin and acceleration of solar and heliospheric energetic particles have been prevalent research frontiers in space physics. Solar and heliospheric energetic particles measured in the interplanetary medium (IPM) can be classified into two major ...

Off‐Stoichiometry Engineering of the Electrical and Optical Properties of SrNbO3 Using Oxide Molecular Beam Epitaxy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The plasma edge of transparent conducting oxide SrNbO3 shifts from ∼2 eV in the visible range to 1.37 eV in the near‐infrared region by off‐stoichiometry using the vacancy sites as quasi‐substitutional virtual elements. This work advances the stoichiometry engineering of perovskite oxides using oxide molecular beam epitaxy, allowing synthesis beyond ...

Deconvolution of interplanetary transport of solar energetic particles [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, 1998
We address the problem of deconvolving the effects of interplanetary transport on observed intensity and anisotropy profiles of solar energetic particles with the goal of determining the time profile and spectrum of particle injection near the Sun as well as the interplanetary scattering mean free path.

Particle Acceleration and Their Escape into the Heliosphere in Solar Flares with Open Magnetic Field

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
Energetic particle populations in the solar corona and in the heliosphere appear to have different characteristics even when produced in the same solar flare.

Interfacial Contact Engineering Enables Giant‐Performance Semiconductor Nanomembrane Optoelectronic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work investigates modifying interfacial contacts in realizing giant‐performance semiconductor nanomembrane optoelectronics. Strategies, including surface reaction and buffer layer work‐function modulation, are explored to boost the Schottky barrier. An emerging material of YbOx is utilized for near‐ideal Ohmic contact.

The isotopic composition of solar energetic particles

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 2000
Since the launch of ACE in August 1997, the Solar Isotope Spectrometer (SIS) has observed 11 large solar particle events in which elemental and isotopic composition was determined over a large energy range. The composition of these events has raised many issues and challenged generally accepted characterizations of solar energetic particle (SEP) events.

Active Thermal Field Integration for Marangoni‐Driven Salt Rejection and Water Collection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A thermal gradient fabric (TGF) evaporator with an auxiliary active thermal field can simultaneously increase evaporation rates and achieve long‐term salt rejection. The auxiliary active thermal field is well integrated with solar energy to construct moderate, extensive, and circulating Marangoni flow for salt rejection.
