Abstract Wildfires alter terrestrial material and energy inputs to rivers, but impacts to ecosystem metabolism and dissolved oxygen (DO) are not well known due to few river ecosystem response studies during and after wildfires. In summer 2022, wildfire and heavy rains triggered debris flows into the Klamath River, where we compared immediate (days) and

Machine learning for reconstruction of polarity inversion lines from solar filaments
Solar filaments are well-known tracers of polarity inversion lines that separate two opposite magnetic polarities on the solar photosphere. Because observations of filaments began long before the systematic observations of solar magnetic fields ...

Open Magnetic Field Lines Partition Auroral Oval Segments Into Transpolar Arcs
Abstract Transpolar arcs (TPAs) are auroral structures spanning the polar cap. One type appears in conjugate hemispheres and is thought to be located on closed field lines, but how closed flux enters the open polar cap remains debated. We address this using observation and simulation of conjugate TPAs after an interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) By ...

Shaping Ti3C2 MXene Nanospheres for Precision Near‐Infrared Photothermal Therapy
In this study, we report producing spherical MXenes via fs laser fragmentation of Ti3C2 flakes in liquid medium. The nanoparticles demonstrated pronounced light absorption and high photothermal conversion efficiencies of 68% and 63% under heating with NIR‐I and NIR‐II lasers, respectively.
