Probing Electrocatalyst Design for Product Selectivity in CO2 Reduction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Selective CO2 electroreduction is controlled by catalyst structure, dynamic surface reconstruction, adsorbate interactions, and reaction microenvironment. This review summarizes Cu‐ and non‐Cu‐based catalysts, single‐atom and molecular systems, degradation pathways, and operando/computational strategies for steering CO2RR toward hydrocarbons ...

Sponge-inspired catalyst design for durable acidic CO2 reduction at low K+ concentration

open access: yesNature Communications
Acidic electrochemical CO2 reduction (CO2RR) typically requires K+ ions to create a local H+-depleted microenvironment, suppressing competing hydrogen evolution reaction (HER).

Renewable Power Sources: Towards a Solar Solution [PDF]

open access: yes
Of all of the sources of renewable energies available one can argue that the most abundant and accessible are solar power, radiation, and the energy of the tides (70 % of the earth surface is covered by water).

Ferroelectric Catalysts in the Hydrogen Evolution Reaction: A Perspective

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This perspective summarizes recent advances in ferroelectric (FE) catalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). It first introduces HER fundamentals and FE mechanisms, then classifies FE catalysts into single‐phase, single‐atom‐modified, heterostructured, and other engineered types, with representative examples.

The interface of GaP(100) and H2O studied by photoemission and reflection anisotropy spectroscopy

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2013
We study the initial interaction of adsorbed H _2 O with P-rich and Ga-rich GaP(100) surfaces. Atomically well defined surfaces are prepared by metal-organic vapour phase epitaxy and transferred contamination-free to ultra-high vacuum, where water is ...

Thermally Assisted Photocatalytic Dehydrogenation of Methanol in Continuous Steady‐State Operation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Thermally assisted photocatalytic methanol dehydrogenation on Pt/TiO2 enables formaldehyde and hydrogen production far beyond thermodynamic limits. Continuous operation delivers up to 95% selectivity over 70 h, and oxygen microdosing strongly boosts conversion by regenerating surface oxygen sites.

Solar Thermochemical Production of Fuels

open access: yes, 2010
High-temperature thermochemical processes efficiently convert concentrated solar energy into storable and transportable fuels. In the long run, H2O/CO2-splitting thermochemical cycles based on metal oxide redox reactions are developed to produce H2 and ...

Robust Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution Over a Conjugated Metal‐Organic Framework Heterojunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We report a conjugated coordination polymer, Cd‐TMT (TMT = 1,3,5‐trimercaptotriazine), featuring an intrinsic molecular‐level charge transport network. The conjugated TMT ligands facilitate strong intra‐ligand charge transfer, while their ordered π‐π stacking along the [111] direction establishes a continuous pathway for directional electron migration,

Energy‐Resolved Femtosecond Dynamics of Plasmon‐Induced Hole Injection at Au/GaN Heterointerfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Plasmon‐induced interfacial hole injection at metal/semiconductor heterointerfaces represents a complementary pathway to conventional hot electron transfer, thereby broadening the functional landscape of plasmonic systems for energy conversion and ...

Operando Visualization of Cathode Water Management in Proton Exchange Membrane Water Electrolyzers Using Synchrotron X‐Ray Radiography

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The cathode of proton exchange membrane water electrolyzers remains a poorly understood region despite its importance for hydrogen purity and operational safety. Operando synchrotron X‐ray radiography directly visualizes liquid water behavior and uncovers a transition from continuous to pulsating transport, providing new insight into multiphase ...
