Solar Selective Volumetric Receivers for Harnessing Solar Thermal Energy

Volume 6B: Energy, 2016
Given the largely untapped solar energy resource, there has been an ongoing international effort to engineer improved solar-harvesting technologies. Towards this, the possibility of engineering a solar selective volumetric receiver (SSVR) has been explored in the present study.

Thermal efficiency comparison: Surface-based solar receivers with conventional fluids and volumetric solar receivers with nanofluids

Energy, 2016
Abstract This paper reports on a comparative study of the difference in thermal efficiency between surface-based solar receivers (SRs) with conventional base fluids and volumetric solar receivers (VRs) with water-based multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) nanofluids. The analytical solutions for temperature distribution and thermal efficiency of SRs

Temperature Control of Solar Receivers

1986
The effective use of new energy processes essentially relies on the possibility of ensuring operation continuity to maximize the integral energy output. This is particularly true in the case of central receiver solar plants where a reasonable return of the capital investment requires daily production periods to be maximized, in spite of severe ...

The Wireless Monitoring System of Solar Receiver

2012 Fifth International Conference on Intelligent Computation Technology and Automation, 2012
In solar thermal utilization technology, one needs to calculate the conversion efficiency and verify whether safety and durability meet the design requirements by monitoring solar receiving system, and improve the solar receiving system according to the experimental data.

On the Stability of Solar Chemical Particle Receivers

Journal of Solar Energy Engineering, 1998
We model the decomposition reaction of a solid powder into a solid plus gas in a mixed homogeneous open solar reactor and derive criteria for stability. Instability may occur via a feedback mechanism whereby gas produced in the decomposition reaction reduces the inflow, which leads to even higher reaction rate.
