Comparative study of finned acrylic solar still and galvanised iron solar still

Materials Today: Proceedings, 2017
Abstract Scarceness for water exists in many countries even though three fourth of the earth is covered by water. The reason behind this is the rapid enlargement of industry and populace worldwide. Solar still is the only efficient solution for water trouble in hot climatic conditional areas where there is scarcity of water and electricity.

A Review of integrating solar collectors to solar still

Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, 2017
Abstract Water is one of the important sources for the survival of living species on the earth. As earth having only a small amount of water resources for drinking purpose people in rural and urban areas are getting affected by consuming contaminated water that leads to water-borne diseases. Even ground water has to be properly treated before its use

Solar Powerplant And Still

Proceedings of the 25th Intersociety Energy Conversion Engineering Conference, 2005
A combination solar powerplant and still, capable of converting salt water into fresh water while producing electrical power is described. The collector consists of a shallow pond with an airtight covering of thin plastic positioned slightly above the liquid surface.

Theoretical analysis of a triangular pyramid solar still integrated to an inclined solar still with baffles

International Journal of Ambient Energy, 2016
ABSTRACTThis paper presents the theoretical analysis of a triangular pyramid solar still integrated to an inclined solar still with baffles. The performance of the solar still depends on water mass inside the basin. The yield of triangular pyramid solar still is increased by integrating it to an inclined solar still with baffles.

Solar still performance

Desalination, 1991
Abstract This investigation includes the study of the performance rating and efficiency of a solar still operating under different conditions. The solar still was designed and built in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the Ohio State University. The three major variable factors in the still performance are the insolation, the wind velocity and

A REVIEW OF DESALINATION BY SOLAR STILL

2007
This communicating article reviews desalination by solar still, and the recent studies on the solar still systems. The review includes basic principle of solar distillation, and also the quality of distilled water. A classification of the solar still systems was made in order to explain the types of solar still systems.

Parametric investigation of a double-effect solar still in comparison with a single-effect solar still

Desalination, 2002
Abstract This paper reports the use of two mathematical models to compare the productivity of single-effect and double-effect solar stills under different climatic, design and operational parameters in Oman. The shallow water basin, 23° cover tilt angle, 0.1 m insulation thickness, and asphalt coating of the solar still were found to be the optimum ...

Double basin solar still

Energy Conversion and Management, 1980
Abstract This paper presents a periodic analysis and observed performance of a double basin solar still, mounted on a stand. Observations on this type of still are in fair agreement with the results of analysis. The daily distillate production of such a still is on the average 36% higher than that of a single basin still.

Design and Analysis of Solar Still

Materials Today: Proceedings, 2017
Abstract In this communication, an attempt has been made to find out the effect of water capacity on internal and external heat transfer for a solar distillation system. It is a well-known fact that the distillate output decreases significantly with the increase of water depth in the basin of the solar still.
