A two-dimensional, self-consistent model of galactic and anomalous cosmic rays in the solar wind

open access: yes, 2001
We have developed a two-dimensional heliospheric model that includes galactic and anomalous cosmic rays as well as pickup ions. Cosmic rays are described via their number density in phase space, rather than pressure, as every preceding 2-D model has done.

A Review of Grain Boundaries: Formation Mechanism, Synthesis Strategy, and Application in Electrocatalysis

open access: yesEcoEnergy, EarlyView.
An overview of grain boundary engineering in the field of electrocatalysis. ABSTRACT Key electrocatalytic reactions such as HER, OER, ORR, CO2RR, and NRR offer promising routes for storing renewable energy as chemical fuels. However, their widespread application is constrained due to the lack of highly active and stable catalysts. Grain boundaries (GBs)

Anisotropic unstable ion distribution functions downstream of the solar wind termination shock

open access: yes, 2007
International audienceIn this paper we demonstrate that solar wind ions, passing over the quasiperpendicular portion of the solar wind MHD termination shock, unavoidably develop strongly pronounced pitchangle anisotropies.

Transient Charging Dynamics in Stacked Ga2O3/ZnO Photovoltaic Units Governing Wavelength‐Selective Polarity Switching

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
This work reveals a “Photovoltaic‐Capacitance” coupling mechanism in stacked Ga2O3/ZnO devices, defining the ZnO/graphene interface as a novel Photovoltaic Dynamic‐Capacitor (PDC). The wavelength‐selective bipolar response enables a physical layer secure communication protocol based on ternary optical logic (“1,” “0,” “−1”).

Elementary Steps of Energy Conversion in Strongly Correlated Systems: Beyond Single Quasiparticles and Rigid Bands

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
This article reviews the fundamental consequences of strong correlations on excitations and elementary steps of energy conversion leading to new opportunities to control energy conversion. Examples include friction at surfaces, thermal transport, and photovoltaic energy conversion.

Insights to Industrial Electrocatalytic Sulfide Oxidation: Electrode Fabrication, System Engineering, and High‐Value Product Acquisition

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
This review summarizes recent advances in electrocatalytic sulfide oxidation (SOR), focusing on catalyst design strategies, reaction system engineering, and pathways for high‐value product generation. The roles of different reduced sulfur species (S2−, HS−, H2S) under various industrial conditions are highlighted, along with approaches to enhance ...
