Photo‐Switchable Molecular Module Programming PET Biodegradation in Aquatic Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We address the plastic durability paradox by integrating an itaconic acid–derived pyrrolidone module into polymer backbones. Sunlight in water triggers Norrish Type I ring‐opening and hydrophilization, enabling rapid biodegradation into nontoxic minerals.

A solarization-triggered fungicide controlled-release platform enabled by “carrier-in-carrier” hiberarchy for on-demand soil-borne disease defense

open access: yesAdvanced Agrochem
Soil application of fungicides is a primary control strategy for soil-borne diseases, while soil solarization provides an economical and eco-friendly supplementary approach. Herein, we propose a novel “carrier-in-carrier” photothermal-responsive delivery

TOWARDS AN INTEGRATED CONTROL OF SESAME (SESAMUM INDICUM L.) CHARCOAL ROT CAUSED BY MACROPHOMINA PHASEOLINA (TASSI) GOID [PDF]

open access: yesArab Universities Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 2007
Soil solarization in combination with fungal antagonists and soil amendments has been sub-jected to evaluation as a potential disease man-agement strategy for the control of charcoal rot of sesame caused by Macrophomina phaseolina (Tassi) Goid ...

RFID temperature sensors for monitoring soil solarization with biodegradable films [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Soil-borne pathogen and weed control can be achieved by soil solarization even if estimation of time treatment is difficult to assess. Thus, due to dependence to environmental conditions and the need to minimize the time of treatments, the implementation

Architecture‐Driven Functional Coupling in Vertically Aligned Nanocomposites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Vertically aligned nanocomposites define a growth‐engineered architecture in which vertical interfaces, strain fields, defect pathways, and phase connectivity are created simultaneously. This review shows how these architectural features couple ferroic, optical, ionic, electrochemical, and device responses, establishing design rules and open challenges

Efficacy of soil solarization on black root rot disease and speculation on its leverage on nematodes and weeds of strawberry in Egypt

open access: yesBulletin of the National Research Centre, 2019
Background Strawberry (Fragaria ananassa Duch.) is an economically important crop in Egypt. Yet complex black root rot disease of strawberry caused by Fusarium solani, Rhizoctonia solani, and Pythium sp. can cause considerable yield losses.

Long Time Effect of Soil Solarization Integrated with Dazomet or Chicken Manure on Yield, Weeds and Root-Knot Nematodes in Tomato and Melon

open access: yesItalian Journal of Agronomy, 2008
Effects of 5-week soil solarization, either alone or combined with dazomet or a chicken manure compost, on tomato and melon yield, root-knot nematode infestation and weeds were investigated along three crop cycles in a plastic greenhouse infested by ...

Management of ginger bacterial wilt (Ralstonia solanacearum) epidemics by soil solarization and botanical mulching at Tepi, southwestern Ethiopia [PDF]

open access: yesPesticidi i Fitomedicina, 2023
Ginger is one of the most valuable cash crops for farmers in different parts of Ethiopia. Bacterial wilt disease, caused by Ralstonia solanacearum, creates major limitation to production of ginger in Ethiopia.

Desert Plant Inspired Hierarchical Nanofibrous Membranes for Integrated Solar Desalination and Heavy Metal Remediation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An Alhagi maurorum inspired hierarchical composite membrane (NFCu) was developed by integrating heavy metal remediation and solar‐driven interfacial evaporation in a single platform. Beyond the photothermal effect, a localized photocatalytic process is realized on the CuO surface, deepening the mechanistic understanding of light–matter–water ...

Investigting the effects of some physical and cultural methods on the population of bulb mite (Rhizoglyphus robini) and yield of saffron (.Crocus sativus L) [PDF]

open access: yesZirā̒at va Fanāvarī-i Za̒farān, 2018
In this research, the effects of solarization by transparent plastics, planting time and the first irrigation after planting on the populations of saffron bulb mite (Rhizoglyphus robini) and yield (Crocus sativus L.) were investigated.
