Crop Growth and Yield in Three-Crop Mixtures and Sole Stands in an Organic System

open access: yesAgronomy
Low yields remain a primary obstacle to the expansion of organic farming in Europe. While legume-based mixed cropping enhances land-use efficiency, three-crop mixtures remain understudied compared to binary systems. We evaluated the vegetative and generative growth of pea (Lathyrus oleraceus Lam.), oats (Avena sativa L.), and camelina (Camelina sativa (

Root interactions on sole crop and intercrop give different effects of competition

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2020
Abstract Root interactions on sole crop and intercrop give different effects of competition. Understanding on root interactions is very challenging due to the methodology limits in root studies especially when we intercrop between tree and crop components.

An Assessment of some Fertilizer Recommendations under Different Cropping Systems in a Humid Tropical Environment [PDF]

open access: yesTropicultura, 2001
Studies were carried out to determine the effects of four fertilizer recommendation systems (bianket recommendation, soil test recommendation, recommendation based on nutrient supplementation index and unfertilized control) on five cropping systems (sole

Changes in dry matter, protein percentage and organic matter of soybean-oat and groundnut-oat intercropping in different growth stages in Jilin province, China

open access: yesActa Agriculturae Slovenica, 2018
One of the most important and sustainable cropping practice is intercropping. The study was conducted under field conditions in the arid Horqine sandy land in Baicheng District, Jilin Province, Northern China in 2011.

Intercropping and Rhizobium Inoculation Affected Microclimate and Performance of Common Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) Varieties

open access: yesScientifica, 2022
A field experiment was carried out at Hawassa, during the 2020 cropping season with the objective to evaluate the impact of maize-common bean intercropping and Rhizobium inoculation on microclimate, growth, and yield of common bean varieties.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Effect of Hairy Vetch (Vicia villosa Roth) on Weeds Control and Production of Coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.) in Itercropping [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Science and Sustainable Production, 2020
Background and Objective: Evaluation of hairy vetch (Vicia villosa Roth) effect on weed control, yield, yield components and essential oil of coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.) in mixed cropping were important objectives of this study.

How much is sole-cropping systems sustainable for camellia and crambe?

open access: yes, 2019
Crambe (Crambe abyssinica R.E. Fries) and camelina (Camelina sativa L. Crantz) are two oilseed crops belonging to the Brassicaceae family. Typically crops belonging to this family highly suffer from solecropping system, as extensively reported for oilseed rape (Brassica napus L. var. oleifera).

The Impacts of Planting Patterns Combined with Irrigation Management Practices on Watermelon Growth, Photosynthesis, and Yield

open access: yesPlants
(1) Background: Crop yields in China’s arid and semi-arid regions are limited by water shortages. Exploring the interactions and resource utilization among agroforestry species is key to maintaining diversified agricultural production.
