Treating bovine sole ulcers - An alternative to amputation of granulation tissue

Compression of the corium between the caudal edge of the third phalanx and the horn of the sole causes the initial contusion and subsequent ulceration. In order for the ulcerated corium to heal, the tissue must be allowed to granulate. Impaction of slurry and other foreign material in an untreated lesion will usually prevent this.
