Identification of solenoid valve dynamics in a variable valve timing system

2016 UKACC 11th International Conference on Control (CONTROL), 2016
The automotive industry is continuously developing technologies and strategies for increasing the efficiency in fuel consumption and reducing the emission of pollutants. The variable valve timing (VVT) system provides such a solution for internal combustion engines.

Improvement of olfactory display using solenoid valves

2007 IEEE Virtual Reality Conference, 2007
The research on olfactory sense in virtual reality has gradually expanded even though the technology is still premature. We have developed an olfactory display composed of multiple solenoid valves. In the present study, an extended olfactory display, where 32 component odors can be blended in any recipe, is described; the previous version has only 8 ...

Note: High temperature pulsed solenoid valve

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2010
We have developed a high temperature pulsed solenoid valve with reliable long term operation to at least 400 °C. As in earlier published designs, a needle extension sealing a heated orifice is lifted via solenoid actuation; the solenoid is thermally isolated from the heated orifice region.

Solenoid Operated Cartridge Valves

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1977
<div class="htmlview paragraph">Small solenoid operated cartridge valves provide flexibility to supply many functions in hydraulic systems. A line of solenoid operated two way, two position cartridge directional control valves has been developed in conjunction with a series of solenoid coils with different terminations.

The Modeling and Simulation of a Proportional Solenoid Valve

Journal of Dynamic Systems, Measurement, and Control, 1996
A nonlinear dynamic model of a high speed direct acting solenoid valve is presented. The valve consists of two subsystems; a proportional solenoid and a spool assembly. These two subsystems are modeled separately. The solenoid is modeled as a nonlinear resistor/inductor combination, with inductance parameters that change with displacement and current ...

Solenoid-operated hydraulic valves for aircraft applications

Electrical Engineering, 1944
DURING the past several years there has been a definite trend by some aircraft manufacturers to eliminate hydraulic controls from combat airplanes. The vulnerability of hydraulic systems used on airplanes manufactured during this period and to a certain extent today are big factors in promoting this trend.

Corrosion-resistant pulsed solenoid valve

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1994
We present a novel pulsed valve design that is especially suited for use with severely corrosive gases. The design is unique in that the stem seals the gas inlet, rather than the outlet. All parts in contact with the high-pressure gas flow are constructed of ceramic and fluoroplastics.

SOLENOID VALVE, IN PARTICULAR A SOLENOID VALVE FOR VEHICLE BRAKE SYSTEMS WITH ANTI-SKID CONTROL

1995
In order to ensure constant valve-switching time, irrespective of variations in viscosity, and in order to dampen, to the lowest possible constant level, the noise produced when the valve is operated, the invention proposes that a seal (3) is fitted between the outside surface of the armature (5) and the inside surface of the valve housing (1) and ...

Failures in Relay and Solenoid-Valve Coils

EDFA Technical Articles, 2001
Abstract There is a little known failure mechanism that affects dc coils, particularly those used in low-side-switched circuits. This mechanism involves electrolytic transport of copper from the winding in conjunction with chemical corrosion. For this phenomenon to occur, several conditions must exist simultaneously.
