Electropolymerized hydrophobic polyazulene as solid-contacts in potassium-selective electrodes [PDF]
Electropolymerized hydrophobic polyazulene (PAz) based solid-state potassium ion-selective electrodes (SC-ISEs) have been characterized in terms of their suitability for clinical application.

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Coulometric response of solid-contact anion-sensitive electrodes
Abstract In this work, the coulometric response of nitrate, perchlorate, and sulfate solid-contact anion-sensitive electrodes was investigated. The coulometric transduction method was originally introduced and so far mainly studied for solid-contact cation-selective sensors using poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) doped with poly(styrene ...

Scaling Laws for Spreading of a Liquid Under Pressure
We study squeeze flow of two different fluids (castor oil and ethylene glycol) between a pair of glass plates and a pair of perspex plates, under an applied load.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Particles at oil–air surfaces : powdered oil, liquid oil marbles, and oil foam [PDF]
The type of material stabilized by four kinds of fluorinated particles (sericite and bentonite platelet clays and spherical zinc oxide) in air–oil mixtures has been investigated. It depends on the particle wettability and the degree of shear.
