Automated Solid Phase Extraction

2011
An overview is given in this chapter of the main potential benefits of using automated Solid phase Extraction (SPE) in the preparation of food samples for LC-MS analysis, both in terms of quality of results and in terms of performance and productivity. Automated SPE instrumentation is described and a range of application examples are given.

Solid-phase extraction of carotenoids

Journal of Chromatography A, 2009
In this work, solid-phase extraction (SPE) trapping performance of lutein and beta-carotene, which were used as the model molecules of carotenoids, was investigated. The absorption, elution, and enrichment of carotenoids on SPE cartridges with four different sorbents, i.e.

Solid-phase extraction of phenols

Journal of Chromatography A, 2000
Sample preparation for phenol analysis using solid-phase extraction (SPE) is reviewed. The scope of the review has been restricted to the literature dealing with the analysis of phenols as the main objective. The use, advantages and disadvantages of silica sorbents, polymeric, functionalized, carbon-based and mixed available sorbents, when applied to ...

Carbon nanotubes: Solid-phase extraction

Journal of Chromatography A, 2010
Since the first report in 1991, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have shown great possibilities for a wide variety of processes and applications, which include their use as electrodes, sensors (gas, enzymatic, etc.), nanoprobes, electronic materials, field emitters, etc. The combination of structures, dimensions and topologies has provided physical and chemical

Immuno-affinity solid-phase extraction

Journal of Chromatography B: Biomedical Sciences and Applications, 2000
The measurement of trace organics such as drugs and pesticides at low concentration in biological and environmental samples is a challenging analytical task. Despite recent advances in instrumentation most analysts regard sample preparation as the rate-limiting step in the overall analytical method.

Ion-pair solid-phase extraction

Journal of Chromatography A, 2000
Solid-phase extraction (SPE) is a technique widely employed by analytical chemists. SPE cartridges are available in a wide variety of formats containing media with diverse chemistries. This paper will review ion-pair SPE, one of the less frequently applied, and presumably less well-known techniques.

Magnetic solid-phase extraction

Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 1999
Magnetic solid-phase extraction is a new procedure for the preconcentration of target analytes from large volumes based on the use of magnetic or magnetizable adsorbents. In the experiments reactive copper phthalocyanine dye attached to silanized magnetite, and magnetic charcoal were used as adsorbents and selected organic dyes were used as analytes ...
