Binder jet additive manufacturing method to fabricate near net shape crack-free highly dense Fe-6.5 wt.% Si soft magnets

open access: yesHeliyon, 2019
High silicon (Si) electrical steel has the potential for efficient use in applications such as electrical motors and generators with cost-effective in processing, but it is difficult to manufacture.

Friction-forging tubular additive manufacturing (FFTAM): A new route of solid-state layer-upon-layer metal deposition

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2020
A new solid-state 3D-printing technology based on the friction-stir processing (FSP) treatment and forging consolidation is examined here for additive manufacturing (AM) to produce the tubular components in a layer-by-layer method, yielding extremely ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Design for Additive Manufacturing : Supporting Intrinsic-Motivated Creativity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Emotional aspects and designers’ motivations in Design For Additive Manufacturing are rarely studied. Still, as they can influence creative behaviors, it is worth of interest to draw some bases for a relation between designers’ motivations and the field ...

A Review on Solid-State-Based Additive Friction Stir Deposition

open access: yesAerospace, 2022
Additive manufacturing (AM) is an important technology in Industry 4.0. In recent years, solid-state-based additive friction stir deposition (AFSD) has attracted much attention, as it can avoid the inherent defect of melting and rapid solidification in ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Additive manufacturing and high performance applications

open access: yes, 2018
The requirement on life and robustness for aero-engine components poses obstacles to additive manufacturing. It is expected that increasing knowledge about the process and thereby its development together with adaption of existing alloys may improve ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.
