Sorption Drying of Wheat Seeds Using Kieserite as a Solid Desiccant

open access: yesAgriEngineering
The moisture content (MC) of wheat seeds must be reduced before storage using appropriate dehydration processes. Desiccant drying is a promising alternative to conventional drying methods because it improves seed quality while providing overall energy ...

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Performance Characteristics of Solid-Desiccant Evaporative Cooling Systems

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
Air conditioning accounts for up to 50% of energy use in buildings. Increased air-conditioning-system installations not only increase total energy consumption but also raise peak load demand.

PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT OF A SOLID DESICCANT AIR DEHUMIDIFIER

open access: yesJurnal Teknologi, 2016
The presence of moisture in the air along with temperature has a long term and devastating effect on man and material. One way to create a low humidity environment is by using a solid desiccant wheel system. In the present work, an experimental analysis has been carried out under steady-state conditions to investigate the effects of different operating

Variable Stiffness Flexure Structures Enabled by Phase‐Change Gallium and Adhesive Interfacial Locking for Soft Robotic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A flexure‐based variable stiffness structure is developed by integrating phase‐change modulation and adhesive interfacial locking of gallium. The design enables a wide stiffness variability, transitioning from soft, flexible behavior to rigid, load‐supporting performance.

A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.
