Solid–liquid diffusion controlled rate equations

Thermochimica Acta, 1999
Abstract The paper is concerned with diffusion controlled reaction mechanisms and the associated rate equations. A review of previously reported rate equations was carried out and reported with the proofs of the equations. Three new rate equations are proposed based on the reaction of a solid and a liquid phase.

Control of Non-Solid Diffusers by Electrostatic Charging

Proceedings of the 33rd Annual ACM Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems, 2015
The form factors of displays using fog or water surface are limited by our ability to control the non-solid substances used as the diffuser. We propose a charging technique for polar aerosols (e.g., mist or fog) that allows control of the shape and trajectory of such non-solid diffusers using electric fields.

Effective diffusion coefficient and diffusion-controlled reactions in insulating solids with defects

Radiation Effects and Defects in Solids, 1995
Abstract The expressions for effective diffusion coefficient are obtained in the mean field approximation for two-phase system for spatial dimensions of 1, 2 and 3. The existence of potential barrier for diffusion on the phase boundary was taken into account via the boundary conditions.

Circumventing Diffusion in Kinetically Controlled Solid-State Metathesis Reactions

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2016
Solid-state diffusion is often the primary limitation in the synthesis of crystalline inorganic materials and prevents the potential discovery and isolation of new materials that may not be the most stable with respect to the reaction conditions. Synthetic approaches that circumvent diffusion in solid-state reactions are rare and often allow the ...

The diffusion controlled growth rate of solid-solid interphase boundaries containing ledges

Acta Materialia, 2020
Abstract In this work the velocity of an isolated growth ledge located on an interphase boundary is solved by the method of matched asymptotic expansion where the “inner” solution is obtained by a conformal mapping procedure. In contrast to previous work, both a constant flux and local equilibrium is maintained at all points along the step face when ...

Analytic solution of trap-controlled tracer diffusion in amorphous solids

Physical Review B, 1993
We solve the equations of trap-controlled tracer diffusion in amorphous solids in the case of constant empty-trap density. We show that the early-time tracer profiles develop exponential wings whose widths are given by the mean atomic displacement between trapping events. The wing amplitude increases linearly with time.

Modelling of diffusion-controlled solid-solid reactions

Journal of Thermal Analysis, 1992
A model describing the initial step of diffusion-controlled solid-solid reactions is presented. The kinetic equation obtained was used to evaluate the activation energy of the reaction LiCl(s)+NaF(s)=LiF(s)+NaCl(s) from DTA data.

Diffusion-Controlled Reactions in Solids

Journal of Applied Physics, 1959
This paper contains a discussion of those diffusion processes commonly referred to as diffusion-controlled reactions. Attention is focused on those aspects of the phenomena to which special care must be given in developing theoretical analyses.
