Squeezing lubrication films : layering transition for curved solid surfaces with long-range elasticity [PDF]
The properties of an atomic lubricant confined between two approaching solids are investigated by a model that accounts for the curvature and elastic properties of the solid surfaces.

Ti6Al4V‐Bioglass‐Copper Composites for Load‐Bearing Implants
We have designed and manufactured a novel Ti64‐based composite by adding 45S5 bioglass (BG) and copper (Cu). Adding BG on titanium improves wear resistance and biocompatibility, whereas Cu addition improves mechanical strength while providing inherent lifelong bacterial resistance.

Moringa Oil and Carbon Phases of Different Shapes as Additives for Lubrication
Vegetable oils in the lubricant field are largely studied. Their efficiency depends on their viscosity parameters and their fatty acid composition. The actions of moringa oil used as a lubricant base and as a lubricant additive have been shown in this ...

Device for lubrication of open friction units
The article considers the problem of increased wear of the wheel-rail pair. An effective solution to this problem is the use of technical means of lubrication, which ensure a reduction in the wear rate of the crests of rolling stock wheels.

Monitoring of lubricant film failure in a ball bearing using ultrasound [PDF]
A lubricant-film monitoring system for a conventional deep groove ball bearing (type 6016, shaft diameter 80 mm, ball diameter 12.7 mm) is described. A high-firequency (50 MHz) ultrasonic transducer is mounted on the static outer raceway of the bearing ...

Review of Thin Lithium Metal Battery Anode Fabrication – Microstructure – Electrochemistry Relations
Thin, lightweight lithium‐metal anodes are pivotal for practical high‐energy batteries. This review surveys processing routes that convert diverse Li precursors, e.g., ingots, melts, solutions, and vapor, into Li‐rich foils with controlled thickness, areal density, and tailored functionality.

Application of the solid lubricant molybdenum disulfide by sputtering [PDF]
Molybdenum disulfide lubricant film is deposited on two substrates, niobium and nickel-chromium alloys, by means of physical direct-current sputtering. The sputtering system uses a three-electrode /triode/ geometry - a thermionic cathode, an anode, and ...

Residual magnetization induces pronounced mechanical anisotropy in ultra‐soft magnetorheological elastomers, shaping deformation and actuation even without external magnetic fields. This study introduces a computational‐experimental framework integrating magneto‐mechanical coupling into topology optimization for designing soft magnetic actuators with ...

The effect of an organic pentasulfide EP additive in turning and milling operations [PDF]
Coopération avec Ecole Centrale LyonBecause a cutting fluid could be equally used for different cutting operations, this study proposed to investigate the behavior of a well-known extreme-pressure additive (pentasulfide) in both turning and milling ...

Breaking the 2‐nm Barrier in Hard Disk Drives Using Monolayer Amorphous Carbon Overcoats
The rapid growth of AI has increased demand for large‐scale data storage, making HDDs indispensable in data centers. Increasing areal storage density is crucial, but limited by the traditional carbon overcoats (COC). Monolayer amorphous carbon (MAC) offers a superior alternative.
