The Influence of Substrate, Binder, and Additives on Suspension Coating Properties at Elevated Temperatures

open access: yesSci
A study of the antifriction properties of suspension solid-lubricating coatings based on molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) at high temperatures depending on the type of substrate, binder, additives, and load parameters was carried out.

Directed Functionalization of Recombinant Spider Silk Nonwoven Membranes with Antibodies Using Non‐Canonical Amino Acids

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A recombinant spider silk protein was functionalized by incorporating genetically encoded bio‐orthogonal reactive azido‐groups. The azido‐functionalized proteins were produced in a scalable biotechnological process, and particles, films, as well as nanofibers were established as anchorage for fully functional antibodies via site‐specific bio‐orthogonal

Energy Criterion of Oil Film Failure during Friction [PDF]

open access: yesTribology in Industry, 2014
The concepts developed by the thermodynamic theory of solid body strength and fracture are used to examine the conditions of lubricant film failure. We obtain a quantitative criterion that defines the lubricant film "defectness" - the critical value ...

Development of solid-lubricated ball-screws for use in space [PDF]

open access: yes
Ball-screws lubricated by solid lubricant films containing molybdenum disulphide are developed. The ball-screws (shaft diameter: phi 25 mm, length: 667 mm) were operated under a load of 40 to 120 N at a speed of 1.5 to 200 rpm at 10(exp -5) Pa.

Lubricating Bacteria Model for Branching growth of Bacterial Colonies

open access: yes, 1998
Various bacterial strains (e.g. strains belonging to the genera Bacillus, Paenibacillus, Serratia and Salmonella) exhibit colonial branching patterns during growth on poor semi-solid substrates.

A method for the measurement of hydrodynamic oil films using ultrasonic reflection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The measurement of the thickness of an oil film in a lubricated component is essential information for performance monitoring and control. In this work, a new method for oil film thickness measurement, based on the reflection of ultrasound, is evaluated ...

Porous Bi2S3 Bulk With Excellent Thermoelectric Performance by Solid States Replacement and Low Melting‐Point Metal Volatilization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
By introducing FeCoNi medium‐entropy alloy, the bismuth sulfide (Bi2S3) material achieves a record‐high ZT of 1.1 at 773 K, owing to the solid‐states replacement reaction and the volatilization of low melting‐point metal. This strategy is also applicable to other sulfur‐based thermoelectric materials.

Direct Ink Writing 3D Printing of Recyclable and Thermally Stable Vitrimers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Vitrimers hold great promise in additive manufacturing as defect‐insensitive, repairable, and recyclable feedstocks. A thin‐film additively manufactured process is developed for a high‐performance vitrimer that is difficult to process traditionally.
